Be Not Afraid: Friday Oct. 28 and Saturday Oct. 29, 2011 St. Mary of the Lake Church, S. 4737 Lake Shore Road (Rt. 5), Hamburg, NY With Guest Speaker Tom Cordaro Author, Be Not Afraid: An Alternative to the War on Terror Tom Cordaro Justice/Outreach Minister at St. Margaret Mary Parish, Naperville, Ill., has served in campus ministry and parish peace and justice work in Iowa, Pennsylvania and Florida since 1976 and is a former national staff member and former National Council Chairperson of Pax Christi USA and is a Pax Christi USA Ambassador of Peace. We recommend Tom’s book, “Be Not Afraid”. How can we change our life to become an instrument of Christ’s peace? Tom Cordaro helps us to understand that we need to overcome fear and provides us with a new way of thinking. Come join us as we explore how we can find Inner Peace and make our world a better place to live. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, Registration: 6:30. Program 7:00 – 8:30 PM. Tom Cordaro: “Be Not Afraid” followed by Q&A and small group discussion. Closing Prayer and social gathering. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, 8:30 AM Registration– 4:00 p.m. Mass with St. Mary of the Lake Parish at 4:30 PM We will spend the whole day together with presentations by Tom Cordaro (Living Unafraid: A Spiritual Path to Freedom” and “Community: Resisting the Dominant Narrative While Embodying an Alternative”). We will share meals, watch a documentary from the Afghani Youth Peace Volunteers have some quiet time for prayer, spend time in small group discussion, work on strategies for peacemaking, laughing and socializing. Retreat Cost: $55 per person/$25 for religious. Pre-registration by Oct. 20: $45 per person/$25 for religious. Friday evening only registrants: $20. (Scholarships available).
