ERGONOMIC APPROACH FOR DESIGNING WORK SYSTEM AND SUPPORTING EQUIPMENT FOR AGING WORKER (Case Study in Foundry Workshop PT. Barata Indonesia) Dimas Enfika Hakim, Dyah Santhi Dewi, ST, M.Eng.Sc Department of Industrial Engineering Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya ITS Campus Sukolilo Surabaya 60111 Email: midh_ef@yahoo.com, dyah_sd@yahoo.com.au Abstract PT BARATA INDONESIA (Persero), in its status as one of Indonesian Government owned company which operates in foundry, manufacturing and EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction). PT Barata Indonesia producing some products which one of the product is boogie which made by hand molding process. One of the main concerns in this research is older worker (aging worker). The research observe older worker in some parameters used on the research such as energy consumption, body posture analysis (moment analysis), Nordic body map complain, Job Stress Index and environmental analysis. Some aspects and parameters observed in this research shows that in existing condition need to be improved. Some aspects observed are physical, cognitive and environmental aspects. Energy consumption of older worker shows that the energy consumption higher than standard, so it must be designed new work system, in this case using some ergonomic approach and the result is design new resting time. Supporting equipment is also designed here to improve performance of body posture that indicated by reduction of moment on body part. The work system design includes the improvement of job condition indicated by reduction of Job Stress Index and improvement of environmental aspects. Key words: aging worker, ergonomic, work system, supporting equipment. 1
