(2) Any promotable Master Sergeant/1SG (in AGR Status) in the Arkansas Army National Guard who holds the MOS of 79T and meet all criteria listed in the qualification requirements. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Sergeant Major: Must possess the MOS of 79T Must be capable and possess the leadership skills needed to be a Command Sergeant Major. Must have completed the Sergeant Majors Academy or enroll in the Sergeant Majors Academy. Must meet height/weight and APFT standards. Must not be flagged for any reason. Promotable Master Sergeants/First Sergeant: Must be on the current standing promotion list. Must possess the MOS of 79T Must have or be able to obtain a secret security clearance. Must be capable and possess the leadership skills need to be a Command Sergeant Major. Must have completed the Sergeant Majors Academy or enroll in the Sergeant Majors Academy. Must be able to complete a 3 year service obligation before reaching the maximum age requirements. Must meet height/weight and APFT standards. Must not be flagged for any reason. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Soldier must be available for interview on 30 January 2015, time to be determined. Soldier will appear in dress uniform. PLACEMENT FACTORS Working knowledge of the following systems are highly encouraged: ARISS, Leader Zone, Data Warehouse, VULCAN, DPRO, DTMS, RMS, and all Microsoft Office programs. Must fully understand the enlistment process, which includes all regulatory guidance. Skill in making contacts, interviews, and counseling. Knowledge of marketing or working with publicity material. Ability to speak in front of large groups. Ability to work with diverse groups. Skill in working with regulations or applying policy. Skill in sales or training. Typing speed of 35 words per minute (WPM) is desirable. Selectee will be subject to uncommon tours of duty, rotational shift assignments and overtime duty. May be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft for Temporary Duty (TDY) purposes. Must meet the requirements of AR 600-9 (height/weight). Must meet the requirements of chapter 3 as per AR 40-501, and pass the Army Physical Fitness Test on a semi-annual basis. Upon selection, will be assigned to the Recruiting and Retention Command, Camp Robinson, North Little Rock and assigned to a compatible military position in MOS 79T. POST TO BULLETIN BOARD CORRECTED COPY ANNOUNCEMENT NUMBER: 15-011 SUMMARY OF DUTIES The incumbent serves as the full time Command Sergeant Major (CSM) directly supervising the Battalion Senior Personnel NCO and Senior Supply NCO. The incumbent is responsible for providing assistance throughout the battalion in achieving annual TAG End Strength goals for the AR ARNG. As the CSM, serves as the Senior Retention NCO in the organization. Emphasizes strength maintenance (SM) responsibilities to Sergeants Major, First Sergeants, Front Line Leaders (FLLs), and others in the NCO support channel, provides guidance. Ensures that the Noncommissioned Officer Development Program (NCODP) includes SM training and emphasizes the role of FLLs. Emphasizes SM during all unit visits and inspections, placing special emphasis on attrition management and retention related activities. Advises commanders and unit leaders on all actions and events that affect SM. Ensures the development and execution of the Unit Sponsorship Program to assimilate new or incoming Soldiers into the unit and Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP). Ensures that interviews and counseling are conducted on time and to standard to uncover and overcome challenges or obstacles to retaining each Soldier in the ARNG. Ensure that the communication flow of information from the company leadership to the individual Soldier and family member is properly executed. Implements/assigns attrition/retention goals in NCO evaluation reports to ensure accountability of the goals to theses leaders. Ensures that retention and attrition training is conducted using the full spectrum retention tools available through the RRC and the Retention Management System (RMS). Uses the Director’s Strength Readiness Overview (DSRO) to maintain visibility of the unit’s strength readiness posture. Serves as the overall NCOIC of the State RSP and reports actions and status to the RRC and State Command Sergeant Major. Serves as the Commander’s representative in supervising those aspects vital to operations determined by the Commander. The Commander and CSM engage in regular dialogue to stay in synch with where the unit is going and how it will get there. The CSM is the senior enlisted trainer and primarily responsible for training and coaching one level down. Develops a performance review process that measures job performance and outlines the courses of action to be followed when any member of the RRC fails to maintain duty proficiency or perform to established standards. Manages the placement of Recruiting and Retention NCOs (RRNCOs) throughout the state by coordinating with HRO and being a part of hiring boards, as well as, command directed moves throughout the battalion. Reports to the RRC to enhance the professional development and proficiency for the RRBN. Performs other duties as assigned.
