For media use February 2012 TULIKIVI’S NEW MODERN WOODBURNING STOVES WILL GIVE YOUR SAUNA A UNIQUE APPEAL Tulikivi is adding two new woodburning stoves to its sauna product group. Both feature a large glass door, giving a great view of the firebox within. The Hile model is finished in soapstone, and the Utu model in steel. Each has an elegantly simple, contemporary look and is designed for maximum sauna enjoyment and clean combustion. The large stone compartment on top of these stoves ensures the stones give off a pleasantly soft steam when water is splashed on them, and also allows efficient heat transfer from the stove body to the stones. Deliveries of the new stoves will begin in April 2012. Hile and Ute sauna stoves burn wood cleanly Tulikivi is adding two new models to its range of woodburning sauna stoves. Their modern design allows the feel of a fireplace to be enjoyed in the sauna room. The Hile and Utu woodburning stoves have a large glass door that gives an unobstructed view of the flames in the firebox and adds an attractive flickering glow to the sauna room. The Hile is clad in ribbed soapstone, and the Utu in elegant dark steel. “Tulikivi has more than 30 years’ experience of wood combustion in fireplaces. We’ve made good use of this experience in the designs of the Hile and Utu stoves, to ensure that the wood burns efficiently and cleanly in the firebox, and with an aesthetically pleasing flame,” says Martti Purtola, Head of Sauna Business at Tulikivi. The new woodburning stoves have been designed in collaboration with Turku-based design office Provoke, which was involved in designing Tulikivi’s electric sauna heater range launched in 2011. Elegantly simple stoves fit easily into different saunas Due to their slender and elegantly simple design, the Hile and Utu stoves are easy to place in all kinds of saunas. The stove door can be modified to open left or right, which gives additional freedom in positioning the stove. “The advantage of Tulikivi’s new woodburning sauna stoves is the large stone compartment, which ensures good heat transfer from the stove body to the stones. This means the sauna heats up quickly and the stones give off a pleasantly soft steam when water is splashed on them. The combustion efficiency and flame height can be regulated by adjusting the position of the ashbox door,” says Purtola. A radiant heat shield can also be purchased if necessary for the floor beneath the base of the Hile and Utu stoves. This will protect the floor structures and waterproofing by reducing the extent to which the floor heats up underneath the stove. This additional item is not required if the stove is installed on a non-combustible material, such as concrete of minimum thickness 50 millimetres. If desired, the look of the stoves can be modified by adding decorative Tulikivi Deco White sauna stones (diameter 5-10 cm) on top of the stove’s existing stones.
