This supersedes Marine Safety Advisory No. 10-06. The Shipyard Group has been removed
from the list of recognized training course providers.
The following training courses and providers have been recognized for the training of Ship and
Company Security Officers (SSOs/CSOs) in accordance with the requirements and
recommendations of the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, and SOLAS
Amendments 2002. Successful completion of one of these courses, or a comparable course
approved by one of the Administration’s Recognized Security Organizations (RSOs), will qualify
an individual to receive a Special Qualification Certificate (SQC) as a Ship Security Officer.
SQCs for SSOs are not a mandatory requirement, but are intended to assist RSOs and port
officials in determining the qualifications and suitability of an individual SSO for the issuance of
the International Ship Security Certificate (ISSC) and Declaration of Security (DoS) when
necessary in accordance with ISPS Code requirements.
