Target items: names of clothes and accessories Materials: clothes and accessories picture cards, letter cards (Appendix (theme 2)) Steps: Level 1 (for less able students): 1. Divide students groups of 4 (2 teams) and give out a set of picture cards and letter cards. 2. Students put the cards on the desk with the white side facing themselves. 3. 4. One student randomly turns over 1 card, 2 teams spell the word by rearranging the letters. The team first spells out the word can take the picture card. The team who gets more picture cards will be the winner. Level 2 (for more able students): 1. Divide students in groups of 4 (2 teams, team A and team B) and give out a set of picture cards and letter cards. 2. Students put the cards on the desk with the white side facing themselves 3. Team A draws a card and speaks out the name of the clothes or accessories in the picture, team B spells 4. 5. the word by rearranging the letters. If the team spells the word correctly, the team can take the picture card. The team who fails to speak out the name of the clothes or spell the word, the other team can take the picture card. The team who gets more picture cards will be the winner. 4 Task 2 – Adjectives to describe clothes and accessories Target items: the skill to associate words (colours and other adjectives) related to clothes Materials: clothes and accessories pictures cards (from task 1), adjectives picture cards (colours and other adjectives), worksheet 1 Steps: Level 1 (for less able students): 1. Divide the class into two groups, group A and group B. Each student of group A gets a picture card of clothes or accessories. Each student of group B gets a picture card of adjectives. 2. Teacher picks one student from group A and one student group B to show their cards to the class. Teacher demonstrates how to add adjective to describe the clothes or accessories. (e.g. navy + jeans = navy jeans) 3. Students walk around the classroom to find a partner from another group to form a pair. 4. 5. Teacher invites some pairs to present the information in the picture cards using the pattern (e.g. navy + jeans = navy jeans). Students work together to finish the worksheet. Level 2 (for more able students): 1. Divide students in pairs, student A and student B. Student A gets the picture cards of clothes or accessories. Student B gets the picture cards of adjectives. 2. Students ask teacher a question “What does he/she wear?” Teacher makes up a sentence (e.g. He wears navy jeans.). 3. Students need to find the correct picture cards (e.g. “navy” and “jeans”) and show to the rest of the 4. 5. students. The pair who is the faster to find the correct picture cards will be the winner. Students apply what they have learned to finish the worksheet. Teacher shows students the picture of the sun and the wind, then asks students to think if the Sun or the Wind is stronger. 2. Teacher reads the story to the students. 3. Teacher asks students why they think the Sun is stronger, then asks students about the clothes they wear when it is cold or not. 4. Teacher asks students to brainstorm the colours they can think of. Teacher writes the colours in the form of mind map on the blackboard. 2. 3. 4. 5. Teacher reads the story to the students. Teacher divides students in 10 groups. Each group proposes some objects with that colour and write the name of the objects on the mind map on the blackboard. Teacher consolidates if the objects written on the board are in the corresponding colour.
