Tyner Southwest Asia Area Director: Samer Alatout 2) Distinguished Service Award 2006, granted to Professor Ashok Dutt and David Edington; 3) Student Paper Competition: The best paper award goes to Rapia Raj, Dept of Geography, McGill University, “Come be a part of the best…”- New Delhi call centres and their impacts upon young employees’ identifies. The Travel Awards: Orga, Monica, Dept of Geography, University of Colorado, Addressing human-wildlife conflict (HWC) in protected area borderlands: Gendered perspectives from a village in Uttaranchal, India. Baoling Wang, Dept of Geography, University of British Columbia, Canadian SMEs in China: challenges and opportunities. 3 Three other AGSG student members won Chakravarti Student Paper Award jointly run with Regional Development & Planning SG, and another student member won China GSG Student Paper Award. 5) Twenty paper panels organized by AGSG members at the AAG Annual Meeting, Denver. 6) Publication of two editions of `Bulletin of Asian Geography,’ and continuous update of the AGSG Web page: http://www.uky.edu/AS/Geography/AGSG/ 7) AGSG members successfully organized the efforts to rescue Professor Ghazi-Walid Falah, Department of Geography and Planning, University of Akron, who was held prisoner in Israel under suspicious of illegal espionage. 8) AGSG members expressed deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of those who lost their lives in the helicopter crash in the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, Nepal, and assisted the preparation of tributes published in varied places including AAG Newsletter. 9) 2007 Annual Meeting: AGSG have been working closely with other AAG SGs especially China, Regional Development & Planning, and Economic Geography SGs to organize annual meeting panels. 10) Activities Scheduled: AGSG members are the major organizers and participants of Second Global Conference on Economic Geography June 25-28, 2007 Beijing, China, and the 9th Asian Urbanization Conference in South Korea, August 18-23, 2007. 5.
