workbooks.
Aztec Art
During this project, children will look at examples of Aztec art
and recognise patterns within it.
Direct teaching will look at symmetry, translation and
geometry and use this as a starting point in their work.
Children will be tasked with drawing shapes with increasing
accuracy and using these to produce their own Aztec art.
Individuals will spend time designing, drafting and refining
their art work to then in groups to design and produce a large

Teach children to be able to refine a search engine to get the
answer to their research questions- how do we ensure that we
have found our answer from a reliable source? What are the
phrases and symbols we can use to refine a search?
Which team will be the champions?
World Music
Children will watch the documentary based on the song ‘Sing’
that Gary Barlow composed for the Jubilee Concert.
From watching this, they will identify and name the musical
instruments from different countries around the world (name
and locate) and explore how sounds are made using them.
Children will be given the opportunity to find out a little more
about these instruments, writing up their findings in the form
of a fact file.
Children will then work as a whole class to learn, and sing well,
‘Sing’. Children will be expected to follow the lead of a
conductor and to be able to sing in tune and in harmony.
Both classes will then take part in a ‘Sing Off’- who will be
victorious?!
