Re: Part-time Multicultural Youth Worker position
I would like to express my interest in the Multicultural Youth Worker position advertised in the Brimbank Leader.
I myself am a Sudanese migrant and have been living with my family in Australia for the last six years. During that time I
have spent three years as a participant in the SAIL (Sudanese Australian Integrated Learning) Program, which has helped
me focus on my studies, get a casual job and make a lot of friends. I have also spent time volunteering with SAIL helping
other participants with their studies and other problems they may be facing.
Most of all, SAIL has made me very passionate about helping other young people, especially migrants. This is why I am
particularly interested in working for your organisation.
I am fluent in Dinka, Swahili and English and have strong connections in the local communities in Footscray, Sunshine,
Sunshine West and Derrimut.
I am a hard worker and really enjoy connecting young people through things that we can all enjoy, such as sport and
music.
My work experience at the Sunshine West Newsagency and Nike have given me great customer service skills, proven
responsibility and a desire to work with people.
I believe that my communication skills and confident personality, partnered with my background and community
knowledge, would make me an asset to your organisation.
