LPN TO RN TRANSITION PROGRAM
CLEP EXAM JUNE 2012

CONTENT ON EXAM:
 Dosage Calculation Exam:
o Medication administration
o Medication dosage calculations (to include IV drip calculations)
 Clinical Nursing Skills Competency
o To include various “basic” nursing skills such as vital sign measurement, IV insertion, indwelling urinary catheter
insertion, IVPB preparation, NGT insertion, wound care, various isolation protocols, oxygen administration, etc…
 Nursing Care Plan
o Development of a nursing care plan satisfactorily within the guidelines established by the Western Oklahoma State
College Nursing Program
o Formulate appropriate nursing diagnosis, goals, interventions and evaluation
o Utilize Maslow’s Heirachy of Needs for prioritization
 Multiple Choice/ Fill-in-the-blank 50 Question Examination:

guidelines in order for a student to be considered exempt from taking the entire course. The faculty of the Western Oklahoma State
College Nursing Department would like to encourage all LPN transition students to attend this course versus clepping the course. This
course was designed to ease your transition into your new role as an Associate Degree Nursing Student and future Registered Nurse.
