Prospective Students Tab – Brett Pollack/Beth Surrell/Martha Hart 1. Brett and Martha presented background information and screen shots of a proposed re-design of the Prospective Students tab. The new design will integrate with the new ideas for the Admissions home page. The intent is to make it more of a directory page that will help users get to the targeted information based on their objectives versus a long list of links as we currently have. Feedback from students on campus tours and from the Student Advisory committee suggested promoting Majors and Minors, Academic standing of UCSD and a perspective of what it’s like to be a student at UCSD. Here is Brett’s PPT presentation below: Prospective Students/Admissions Modification Proposal • • • • • • Survey Results - Students Average age when prospective students began looking at colleges is 16.425. 81% stated they eventually found what they were looking for on the UC San Diego web site. 38% of students use search versus 52.27% of students claim to use the web site navigation to find information. 63% of students stated they understood the UCSD six college systems. 43% of students stated they knew the TritonLink branding and the role it serves. Prioritizing Application/Tool requests The fundamental function of this group is to make sure the projects are vetted before they come to the TritonLink Executive Committee for review and discussion. III. TritonLink Re-Design – Beth Surrell Beth proposed that plans begin for a re-design of TritonLink. This project would leverage from the lessons learned of the Blink redesign and would keep the site fresh. It was agreed that this request will go through the Rapid Response process as some of the same ACT staff would be involved in the design and implementation as are in the development of tools. Sandra Titus and Karen Fisher have already begun to develop some surveys to post on Student Voice to begin getting feedback on navigation and design. IV. Student Advisory Committee Update – Beth Surrell/Cynthia Davalos This year we did gain valuable input from the students on the committee. But the scheduling of meetings was difficult and attendance was sparse. Beth and Cynthia suggested going to an open forum/focus group concept next year. This would allow us to identify key areas to focus on and allow broader access to students who would like to be involved. Cynthia and Beth will work this summer to draft a schedule for the 09-10 academic year. Mae Brown stated that the department representatives for this group are - Nancy Hesketh, Muir Writing and Kimberly Newmark, from Economics. In addition, we have had two student representatives – one undergraduate and one graduate student and in addition, Jonathan has been a regular member of this committee. V.
