Sensitization of Material: None known
Carcinogenicity, Reproductive Effects, Teratogenicity, Mutagenicity: Limited evidence for
the
carcinogenicity of crystalline silica to humans
Section 7- Personal Protection –Respiratory
Respiratory protection should be used whenever dust is generated. Use ministry of Labour
respirator requirements for silica dust exposure
Eye Protection: Safety Glasses
Engineering Controls: Exhaust dust concentrations to acceptable levels by use of proper
Ventilation such as dust collectors, cyclones, etc.
Spill procedure: Clean up in a manner to control airborne dust. Whenever possible, wet
down area with water to control dust
Waste Disposal: Review current regulations. Can be used as a fill material
Handling and Storage: Handle and store in a manner to control dust.
