Minutes of April 6, 2011, Meeting
The meeting of the Warren Township Recreation Commission convened at 7:10 pm on Wednesday, April 6,
2011, at the Warren Township Library.
In attendance were Joe Cerisano (arrived 7:20), Irene Ferguson-DiPietro, Cherie Krebs, Gary Miller, Jim
Zilinski, Township Liaison Carolann Garafola and Recreation Director Eleanora Hermann.
Absent members: Karen Manner, Mary Ellen Florey
Statement by Presiding Officer
Open Public Meeting Statement - Adequate notice of this meeting was given by posting a copy on the
Township Bulletin Board and sending a copy to the Township Clerk, Courier News, and Echoes Sentinel as
required by the Open Public Meeting Act.

Jim Zilinski motioned to approve the meeting minutes from March 2, 2011 and Irene Ferguson-DiPietro 2nd,
with all others in favor.
CHAIRPERSON’S COMMENT
Review 5 yr plan – Copies email to commission members to review before May meeting.
Reminder Volunteer of the year presentations April 14, TC meeting 6:30
New Business: Red Cross Babysitting Class – The recreation program is full for this year. Eleanor will recommend that
maybe the Youth Services Group will be interested and forward the information to them. This can be an option for next
year.
Eleanor explained that September-November is when the planning and arranging for the up coming year’s program is
completed. Members discussed the possibility of planning for 6 months at a time.
Gary spoke regarding reorder of Warren Township recreation jackets and shirts. Eleanor will take orders and payment
from interested commission members.

Treasurer's Report – Reviewed current report and budget worksheet. Chair – Cherie

Rec/Sport Liaison – Jim Zilinski - WBSI and CJBL have joined together and will follow Recreation
Commission guidelines. Rosters need to be sent on time. Paper work is missing and updates are needed for
Rutgers certification, CPR, fingerprinting. An adjustment in the 66% rule might change. Soccer has hired a
company to clean East County Reserve field as well as LAX for Duderstat fields. Signage needed regarding
walking of pets on turf field.

might be postponed due to time constraints.

Public Relations – Cherie Krebs – Discussed having a picture taking contest of Warren on facebook.
Volunteer/Fundraising Ad hoc committee. – Irene Ferguson-DiPietro – distribution of flyers for up coming
events. Soliciting for sponsors for summer events.
Directors Report

GAISER UPDATE –nothing new

NJRPA District meeting Gary and Eleanora will attend 4/8/11 on Geocashing
o
Bob Marino/ Joe Cerisano & Barbar Lawson concert went better than very well. Over 150 attended.
Next year we are thinking about having a concert and dinner at the church catered for a small fee.

Rutgers clinic 15 attended from Warren

New volunteer committee - (still need a criteria)

Projects in the works – ADA walking path, Digital sign, benches need to be ordered, Road pedestrian
lines around municipal complex.
