

Edugame
o Edugame is a real-time classroom assessment tool that allows students to
participate in classroom polls, testing, and jeopardy-style review games.
o Tests, Polls, and games are generated form a databank of questions that
are alilgned to the VA SOL.
o Students use remote “wands” to enter responses (similar to a “Jeopardy”
game).
o Built-in Gradebook that can be used to record student performance on the
polls and tests.
Orchard Goldstar
o Standards-based pretests assign targeted instruction
Students begin by taking a grade-specific and subject-specific pretest
based upon state standards. This pretest assesses which standard(s) the
student has mastered and which standard(s) he/she is struggling with.
Orchard then automatically creates a customized learning plan for the
student by assigning specific Skill Trees based on identified problem
areas.
Correlation Finder assigns standard-specific content
Correlation Finder is a built-in, state-specific database unique to Orchard
For Your State. It is designed to help teachers create Skill Tree
assignments that teach the skills they know their students are struggling
with. These teacher-made assignments can either override, or be combined
with, Skill Tree assignments based on students’ pretest results. This
straightforward tool helps educators effectively address students’ diverse
needs by integrating technology into their curriculum.
State-specific postests measure educational gains.
After students have worked through Orchard’s instructional content,
posttests can then be administered to measure educational gains and to
identify any areas where further instruction is needed. Orchard For Your
State posttests are the perfect tools to help educators to gauge students’
preparedness for state assessments and determine exactly how their
students measure up against challenging state standards.
o Individualized Instruction to Improve Student Performance
Balanced Content
Individualized instruction that remediates, reinforces, and extends learning
is the heart of Orchard. We take a balanced approach to our instructional
content by offering computational and conceptual math programs, reading
programs that range from phonemic awareness to high level
comprehension skills, and language programs that teach grammar, usage,
and mechanics as well as the writing process.
Meeting Individual Needs
Unlike many comprehensive but monotonous software programs that

quickly bore students, Orchard offers a wide variety of instructional
approaches that meet individual learning needs. We understand that all
students do not learn the same way. Our focus is on motivating students to
come back again and again for more individualized and time-on-task
learning.
PLATO
o A maximum of 22 students can access PLATO at any given time. So there
is a need to coordinate use.
o Generally used for Prep Academy, scores on PLATO are tracked for
Reading and Mathematics only.
Inspiration 8
o Allows students to create graphic organizers (outlines, web diagrams,
charts, Venn Diagrams, etc.) and expand topics into writing
Logger Pro
o Logger Pro is a data-collection program used for measurement and
analysis.
o Students can use LoggerPro to create graphs from collected data or from
scratch.
o Used with Vernier probeware and TI-84 Graphing Calculators
o Purchased by the Office of Science for use in the Science classrooms.
SOLPass.org
o Cradock has purchased a subscription to the site.
o Review and practice for the Virginia SOL tests with matching games,
jeopardy-style games, hangman, crosswords, quizzes and more fun
activities.
o Each review covers ALL of the Virginia SOL test content, so more time
on the activities will mean higher scores.
o Prepare for the Virginia SOLs at school and at home.
o Practice online or print out hard-copy reviews and SOL practice
worksheets.
ePat
o The resources here are intended to support and enhance student
preparation for the Standards of Learning Assessment. These tutorials
provide direct exposure to the format and structure of the questions, and
enable users to receive direct feedback for each item. Users can also
download and print resource information for tips, techniques, and
strategies related to reading and writing.
o Structured to give students practice taking the SOL test online.
o Uses SOL Released Test Items.
o We currently have the following available
 2001 – Grade 8 Reading; Grade 8 Writing
 2002 – Grade 8 Reading; Grade 8 Writing; Grade 8 Math
 2003 – Grade 8 Math; Grade 8 Science
 2004 – Grade 8 Science
 2006 – Grade 7 Math

Accelerated Reader
o Assessment that monitors student reading (i.e. whether students are
reading and how frequently)
o The STAR Reading Diagnostic Report is the main report used here at
Cradock by the English teachers (see attached sample and definitions
sheet).
Jefferson Lab
o Similar to SOLpass.org in that it provides review with games, puzzles, and
interactive activities.
o Not generally used to track individual assessement.
o Provides resources for Science and Math
ARDT
o The Algebra Readiness Diagnostic Testing Program™ (ARDTP) is a webbased system for conducting diagnostic assessments of the math and
algebra skills of students in Grades 4 through 9.
o Using both strand tests and computer adaptive tests, ARDTP generates
immediate and reliable diagnostic feedback across five mathematic
strands: Number and Number Sense; Computation and Estimation;
Measurement and Geometry; Probability and Statistics; and Patterns,
Functions and Algebra.
o When ARDTP is used as a pre- and post-testing tool, students take an
adaptive exam at the beginning of the school year to determine strengths
and weaknesses; the assessment is taken again near the end of the school
year to determine the progress that has been made. In between, students
take "strand" tests to chart progress within specific areas.
