We have assumed that:
Adolf August Franz Born 22/.09/1786 Gresse, Kreis Died 15/11/1817 Gluckstadt
Beruf K.G.L. Danischer PremierLeutant was Ferdinand’s Grandfather but cannot as yet
confirm that.
However Ferdinand;s parents are known.
His father, Peter Schliemann born in 1810, was married twice.
The first was to Ann Muller 21 April 1937 Garnisons Sogn, Kobenhavn, Kobenhavn,
Denmark and they had 4 children:
1. Laura Katharine Amalie Schliemann baptised 29 October 1837
2. Katharine Laura Amalie Schliemann baptised 27 April 1845
(Madsen Family history says she was an old sick lady when Wenzel and his 2nd wife Alice
visited Copenhagen in 1926)
3. Heinrich Peter Wilhelm Schliemann baptised 10 July 1842 (came to Australia)
4. Anna Marie Schliemann baptised 3 July 1847
The second marriage was to Anna Nielsen on 20 FEB 1848 Frederiksberg, Kobenhavn,
Denmark

Ferdinand’s Story
Ferdinand Schliemann arrived in Australia and the Australian Archive records show he
married a Dorothea Jagd
Ferdinand commenced a business which he called The Parisian Laundry, which on his
death was passed on to his son Wenzel and then his sons Ron and Barry .
The business and was developed into a substantial and well known family business
servicing Sydney but which closed in the 1970’s as domestic laundry reduced in
popularity and the laundry was located firstly on the corner of Leswell Street at 248
Waverly Road (Oxford Street) Woollahra until 1908 and then at 152 - 160 Oxford Street
Woollahra Sydney in an area that became very up-market with constant opposition to
its existence. The business was closed and the property demolished to make way for
residential terraces.
