Double Dribble
Sunday, 7 September 2014
DOUBLE DRIBBLE, a nightly basketball highlights show hosted by
comedian Dave Thornton, with Ronny Chieng as his ever reliable side
kick.
Both are funny; both are nuts for basketball, making them perfect for
the roles for this new show on ABC2.
DOUBLE DRIBBLE will take an irreverent look at basketball's World Cup - men's and women's - showing
the highs, the lows, and everything in between. But you know... for our amusement, mostly the lows witty, cheeky and displaying a true love for the sport of basketball.
DOUBLE DRIBBLE a fun mix of sketches, basketball action, plus interviews - both real and fake, and
generally an entertaining, not-too-serious look at a world cup event that doesn't traditionally get
extensive coverage.
With Dave and Ronny on the team, DOUBLE DRIBBLE will be fast and action packed.
And to catch ALL the basketball action, don't forget to tune into ABC2 for live games from the FIBA MEN's
BASKETBALL WORLD CUP.
For two weeks, ABC2 will bring you the best basketball on the planet as Australia's Boomers take on the
rest of the world. Calling the games from Spain and getting the latest news from inside the Aussie camp
are Shane 'The Hammer' Heal and premier basketball commentator John Casey. Then each night, sport
broadcaster Stephanie Brantz will take us through the night's coverage with a rotating cast of experts
including four-time Olympian 'The General' Phil Smyth, three-time Olympian Brett Maher and Australian
basketball legend Andrew Gaze amongst a range of guest appearances.

Life and Death Row
Monday, 8 September 2014
Final
LIFE AND DEATH ROW is a striking three-part series telling the story of
capital punishment through the eyes of the young people whose lives
have been shaped by it. Going inside prison walls and meeting America's
youngest Death Row inmates, the series discovers what it's like to live
with the threat of the death chamber. Following their trials, appeals and
ultimately their executions, the films also meet the people the headlines
generally ignore: the young siblings, sons and daughters of victims and
defendants alike, each forced to confront death on an agonising journey through the capital punishment
system. Each film in the trilogy focuses on a key aspect of the system: 'Execution', 'Trial' and 'Crime'.
These are not just stories packed full of unfolding drama, jeopardy and intense emotion, but real life tales
that provoke fundamental questions about justice, the right to life and the right to kill.
The final film of the series follows 25-year-old legal student Kelly Hickman as she attempts to save two of
the young killers facing execution in America. Kelly volunteers at the University of Houston Death Penalty
Clinic, a team of Texan students who help mount last-ditch legal appeals for killers on Death Row. The
team are working on two 'crisis cases' - cases where all of the offenders' normal legal appeals have failed
and they are now just weeks away from execution.

A plumbing blockage causes drama at Josh's house - and a $770 bill. Josh
blames Jenny but Tom is insistent it's not her fault. At any rate, they
don't have time to argue about it because they're due to pick Claire up
from the airport.
Josh goes to see Dad to discuss the plumber's bill and receives a lecture
about responsibility. When Josh leaves to go to the bathroom, a cleaner
catches him out fixing some graffiti. Dad gets involved and the two of them end up running out of the
mall to escape the cleaner. In the car, Dad tells Josh it's time he grew up - only to discover he's made a
mistake of his own.
At the hospital, Mum secretly tells Hannah about her relationship with Stuart. She also gossips about
Ginger, not realising that Ginger can hear her.
Back at Josh's house, as they discuss how they should welcome Claire home, the others discover that Tom
is due to go to see Jenny in a school musical adaptation of A Midsummer Night's Dream. That decides it they have to go.
At interval, Patrick and Josh escape into the school grounds and Claire and Tom are left alone.
Mum tries to patch things up with Ginger, but she's still very upset. CAST: Josh Thomas, Debra Lawrance,
Denise Drysdale, Thomas Ward, Caitlin Stasey and Charles Cottier. #pleaselikeme

Tonight, host Veronica Milsom and her fleet of cabbie comedians
continue to take the pulse of the nation.
In an irreverent ride around town with everyday punters, the cabbie
comedians are agent provocateurs in search of the 'truth'. The trouble
is, 'truth' comes in many flavours and when you never know who might
jump in the back seat, the only thing certain is a journey full of surprises.
With Veronica manning dispatch, she'll send out her fleet of comedians to all the suburban hotspots to
pick up fares and grab their opinions. The cabbie comedians include Andrew O'Keefe, Mel Buttle, Ronny
Chieng, Tommy Little, Jordan Raskopoulos and Tegan Higginbotham.

Crash Test Mummies And Daddies
Wednesday, 10 September 2014
New Series
Crash Test Mummies and Daddies provides a snapshot of contemporary
Australian parenting as five couples set out on the biggest adventure of
their lives - the birth of their first child. Funny and poignant, this six-part
documentary series follows the parents' first four months at home and
the impact of a new baby on their lives and relationships.
As the parents' needs are put on hold to cope with the demands of their
newborn, the series explores the stresses and strains this in turn puts on relationships. Priorities and
values shift and compromises are negotiated as the couples find themselves on the emotional ride of
their lives. In the 'confessional' of separate mothers' and fathers' groups, secret parent business is
exposed as the different sexes reveal their true feelings about themselves, their baby and their partner.
Each couple shares their unique and intimate experiences of life after birth within the context of broader
issues such as breastfeeding, financial pressures, changing roles, familial obligations, self-esteem body
image and the elusive work-life balance. The transition to becoming a parent and the day-to-day
discoveries about parenthood can be a joyful experience, but it can also be a relentless and emotionally
draining time of insecurity, fear and loneliness.
By sharing their experiences at this vulnerable and emotionally volatile time, these parents offer a rare
insight into what really happens when that 'bundle of joy' comes home.
