The Program is transitional and is designed to ensure that arts activities can continue to be supported during a period of change before the introduction of a new Arts Policy next financial year. Arts Grants 2010 releases an additional category offering up to $5,000. The new category of Community Grants will support community based arts activities with a strong focus on community involvement in all stages of the project. Community Grants will operate the same way as the NT Quick Response Scheme. Applications can be submitted all year round and at least 50% of the total budget for the activity must come from sources other than Arts NT. Arts Grants 2010 March Project Round pool includes the extra $100,000 committed by the Northern Territory Government as part of the 2009 budget. The application process will be familiar to past applicants. Please note forms have been modified to increase ease of understanding and use. If you need assistance contact your local Arts Broker. The Regional Art Fund categories include the Rapid Response Scheme that offers up to $1,500 to support arts projects that cannot be applied to within the project rounds due to their time critical nature. Applications can be submitted all year round and notification will be given 15 working days after submission. Awards will be presented in two categories: Sustained contribution to the arts and Outstanding contribution to the arts. The awards will be presented at Junction 2010 – connecting the future, the RAA national conference to be held in Launceston, Tasmania from 26-29 August 2009. The RAA Volunteer Awards recognise, reward and encourage regionally-based artists and cultural volunteers who have made a substantial contribution to the arts in regional communities in Australia. Young people are particularly encouraged to nominate. The course focuses on three areas of learning: Dance Teaching Methods; Safe Dance, and Ethical and Legal issues and provides a stepping stone to more formal qualifications through the Performing Arts Training Package. Proposals are being sought from artists groups, schools and art organisations for exhibitions for the Wall in 2010. Exhibitions the Darwin City Council are looking for are those that reflect Council's Strategic Directions and the principles of community access and inclusion, promotion of cultural diversity and supporting harmony within the community. There is no payment associated with this opportunity however some incidental expenses may be covered by agreement prior to the exhibition.
