Greetings to our valued Senior Spectrum members! Spring has arrived and with it, we
are all enjoying the experience of the unmatched beauty and splendor of the blooming
dogwoods and vivid azaleas. You simply cannot beat spring in Georgia.
DeKalb Medical continues to blossom into another exciting year. In May, keep your
calendar marked for our annual Spring Artist Market, which takes place on Friday, May
11th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Bobbie Bailey Tower Auditorium. You’ll find
handcrafted paintings, jewelry, gourmet items, pottery, greeting cards, dolls, clothing and
home décor…all made by our wonderful nurses and staff at DeKalb Medical. Please
support our valued employees.
Also, please visit our Health and Wellness store located in the 2675 Professional
Building. Last month was National Deep Vein Thrombosis month and we have stocked
up on the latest compression hose for those painful and tender legs of yours. If you’re
looking for increased circulation and comfort, please consider some of our Sigvaris hose.

Senior Spectrum Health Talk
“Common Vision Concerns for Seniors”
Paul E. McManus, M.D.
DeKalb Medical Ophthalmologist
As we age, each of us will experience changes in our eyesight. From macular
degeneration to tearing or dry eyes, senior citizens often experience a wide range of eyerelated problems. Undoubtedly, there are many different treatment modalities for these
conditions. Join us in May as Dr. Paul McManus, DeKalb Medical ophthalmologist,
helps us to demystify the eye.
Dr. McManus will discuss the most common issues that often plague seniors in regards to
their eyesight. Glaucoma, cataracts and even a discussion of when it’s time to consider
giving up driving will be discussed. At some point, each of us will have changes occur in
our eyes. Dr. McManus will also touch on eye sensitivity to light, as well as difficulties
reading small print or seeing from a distance.
Come prepared with your questions. Dr. McManus will be participating in a question and
answer session immediately following the presentation. We look forward to seeing you
there!

Titanic, the world’s largest passenger ship, lauded as “unsinkable,” hit an iceberg and
caused one of the biggest maritime disasters in recorded history. That day, over 1,500
passengers lost their lives, but their legacy and artifacts live on. Join us to experience…

“Jersey Boys at the Fox Theatre & Lunch at Veni Vidi Vici ”
You won't want to miss this Senior Spectrum trip in June! We are taking you to
Broadway to re-live one of the greatest success stories in pop music history, Jersey Boys!
You all have heard their famous songs "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man" and
"Sherry." Now it's time to head to the fabulous Fox Theatre to see how the band, The
Four Seasons, became famous.
Before we enjoy this spectacular musical, we’re enjoying a scrumptious family-style
lunch at one of Atlanta’s most celebrated and chic restaurants, Veni Vidi Vici. Located
in the heart of midtown, Veni Vidi Vici has been described as "a classic Italian
experience at its best." This restaurant offers the fine dining atmosphere, but has an
ambiance that makes you feel like you are right at home.
Come and join us for a delightful afternoon of theatre and delicious food. Jersey Boys
will take us back to a different era and Veni Vidi Vici will fill our palates with authentic
Italian cuisine. So, let the good times roll and we will see you there!
