On the evening's agenda were the following: Possible Field Trips/Tours: The Grolier Club, New York City. Fernando Pena, librarian at the Grolier Club, has been contacted and has agreed to lead a tour. He is open to a tour in November or early spring but has asked for preferred dates in November. Wednesdays and Saturdays have been suggested and agreed upon. Further details will be announced via e-mail and at next meeting. Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, New York City. One of the curators has been contacted and has agreed to lead a tour but would like to know if we would like to tour the whole library or parts of it. To get the most out of our tour experience it was agreed it would be better to tour just the Rare Books and Digital Collections. Again this tour would either be on Wednesdays or Saturdays of November. Further details will be announced via e-mail and at next meeting. The trip to see the map collections held in the New York library has been decided to be taken in the spring. Details will be announced later in the semester. Historical Society of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Last year Laura Ruttum, a former member of SOURCE, has generously offered to lead a tour for future SOURCE members. She has been contacted but has yet to reply. Special Collections/Archives, Alexander Library. Some people have previously been to the New Jersey Room, while taking Tom's Manuscripts and Archives course. In order to have a more comprehensive tour of SPCOL/UA, it was decided to hold off touring this facility until the spring semester. Upcoming Events: Hand-made book workshop: Location: SCILS faculty lounge (undecided) Date: sometime during the Spring Semester, Saturday a.m. Duration: ~ 2 hours Description: Kristen St. John and Ian Bogus have previously piloted a bookmaking workshop.
