This is a limited term appointment and in the event that an ongoing employee of the University is appointed they will retain their ongoing status at their current substantive level. The duration of the appointment covers the period during which it is expected that the AMS will be upgraded to version 8. Following this the University will review the management of the AMS in order to determine the optimum operational and support arrangements. 2. THE FACULTY/GROUP The Learning Technology Services Group has been established to lead the implementation of major enterprise IT initiatives. RMIT is investing $50 million over the period 1999 – 2001 on developing and aligning IT to its core business needs, especially teaching & learning and research & development. The key policies guiding this work are the RMIT Teaching and Learning Strategy and the Research and Development Strategy, which is under development. For 2000/2001, the major LTS undertakings are: The implementation of a new online Academic Management System (AMS); The continued development of the Distributed Learning System (DLS) which currently has approximately 20,000 enrolments in 600 subjects with online components; Ongoing staff development in online teaching and learning, online course renewal, and associated areas; Ongoing strategic IT policy development and evaluation; Refurbishment of the RMIT web presence; and 4. Coordination of RMIT’s participation in the Global University Alliance, and similar projects. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS Refer to attached Organisational Chart. The AMS Functional Analyst reports to the AMS Functional Team Leader. 6. SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES Position Accountabilities The AMS Functional Analyst will report on a daily basis to the AMS Functional Team Leader, and will be accountable to the AMS Functional Manager and Director, LTS. Project Implementation Functions (Phase 2) Responsible for participating in the establishment of project plans, monitoring personal progress against project plans and initiating strategies to correct slippage Review AMS configuration in response to the requirements of the unvierstiy and external organizations Liaise closely with and develop solutions for the requirements of central areas; Student Affairs, Finance, Library, RMIT International, RMIT Training Participate in all project functions for the successful implementation of PeopleSoft Student Administration Version 8.0 Development and/or configuration of integration of Syllabus+, Research modules, GradeBook, RMIT Training, On-line applications, Offshore requirements, Student Financials, RMIT Vietnam, RMIT Graduation process Contribute to coordination of patch maintenance and future developments of the AMS and testing Communication Develop communication documentation for committee submissions, working parties, internal and external use Participate in, initiate or contribute to demonstrations of new functions as developed, to both internal stakeholders and in response to RMIT’s role as a reference site Participate in SIG activities, PeopleSoft activities and other network opportunities as appropriate Contribute to coordination of patch maintenance and future developments of the AMS and its testing by establishing communication channels and functional networks with faculties and other Functional Analysts HelpDesk & Training Contribute to the support of the Help Desk service, specifically in relation to the interpretation and analysis of queries Respond directly to escalated queries from the Help Desk Review and analyse Help Desk queries in order to adapt future training materials Contribute to the ongoing training needs of the university in relation to the AMS, particularly the development and maintenance of the on-line library _____________________________________________________________________________________________ PD – AMS Functional Analyst July 2001 2/4 Knowledge Transfer Undertake any training necessary to ensure continued knowledge transfer of the system to the university Priorities for 2002 During 2002 the Functional Team will support faculties in: 1. The deployment of Full Class Scheduling for all areas apart from Business HE (where full class scheduling will be deployed in 2001). 2. Deployment of the Gradebook assessment receipting and tracking across all courses. 3. Full deployment of the Research Module. 4. Full deployment of VET Competency tracking 5.
