You must be a member of NCSM in order to purchase any materials. This organization offers information, opportunities and resources to all leaders in mathematics, not only supervisors but department chairs, coordinators and coaches. Math Forum (http://mathforum.org) Remember them? “Did you know: The Math Forum @ Drexel offers online professional development for teachers? The Math Forum has created a new Problem Solving and Communication Activity Series to support teachers’ development of problem solving in their classroom? The Math Forum website Math Tools is a community library of technology tools, lessons, activities, and support materials for teaching and learning mathematics?” Standards Aligned Systems – Mathematics Math Council members received Dr. Jim Bohan’s power point presentation from the PCSM/PCTM Annual Conference which explains and explores the Standards Aligned System, along with the Curriculum Framework component. This information will help in assisting those who wish to present to their own faculties. The 2009 Pennsylvania Statistics Poster Competition: For more information, go to: www.francis.edu/paposter. Thanks to Caroline Brennan for this information. Discussions followed concerning the CPM (College Preparatory Mathematics) www.cpm.org . Some members of the team knew teachers who used the program successfully. The curriculum was compared with IMP (Interactive Mathematics Program) www.mathimp.org and its successes and weaknesses. Next meeting Jan. 21 We’re looking forward to a return engagement from Robert Sun, the inventor of First in Math, along with Cred Dobson. During their last visit they were able to give free classroom access to districts in attendance. We are hoping for a larger attendance this time.
