- changes to division boundaries
Since the election in 2009 the Local Government Boundary Commission
for England (LGBCE) has changed some of the county council electoral
divisions.



There is no change in the size of the council – remains at 64 members.
The split across the districts has changed – there are now eight
divisions in South Derbyshire (previously seven) and seven divisions in
North East Derbyshire (previously eight).
Previously there were 64 divisions and 64 members. Now there are 61
divisions - three divisions will be represented by two members. They
are:
o Alfreton & Somercotes Division - combines the existing
separate divisions of Alfreton and Somercotes
o Glossop & Charlesworth Division - combines the existing
division of Glossop South and most of Glossop North and Rural
although one polling district in St Johns ward has been
transferred to Etherow
o Eckington & Killamarsh Division – combines the existing
separate divisions of Eckington and Killamarsh.
Other boundary changes include:
Amber Valley:
o The revised Alport & Derwent Division is formed from part of the
old Alport & Derwent and parts of Duffield & Belper South
o Belper Division remains unchanged
o The revised Duffield & Belper South Division comprises part of
the old Duffield & Belper South
o Greater Heanor remains unchanged
o Heanor Central comprises the old Heanor Central Divison and a
small part of Ripley Division
o Horsley remains unchanged
o Ripley East & Codnor comprises most of the old Ripley Division
with only a small part transferred to Heanor Central
o Ripley West & Heage comprises the old Heage Division and part
of Alport & Derwent
Bolsover
o Barlborough & Clowne and Bolsover North Divisions comprise
the old divisions of Barlborough & Clowne and Bolsover North
West, Elmton & Whitwell
o Bolsover South Division is made up of the old Bolsover South
West & Scarcliffe Division and part of Shirebrook & Pleasley
Division
o Shirebrook & Pleasley Divison is formed from the rest of the old
Shirebrook & Pleasley Division
o South Normanton & Pinxton comprises the former division of
Pinxton and South Normanton West and part of South
Normanton East & Tibshelf
o Tibshelf Division has been formed from the rest of South
Normanton East & Tibshelf Division and parts of South
Normanton East & Tibshelf and Shirebrook & Pleasley
Chesterfield
o Birdholme Division comprises part of the old Birdholme Division
and a small number of electors from Spire Division
o Boythorpe and Brampton includes electorate from the existing
divisions of Ashgate, Birdholme, Hipper and Newbold
o Brimington Division covers the old Brimington Division and a
small part of Staveley South
o Loundsley Green & Newbold Division includes electorate from
the existing divisions of Ashgate, Hipper, Newbold, Saint Marys
and Spire
o Spire Division consists of most of the old Spire Divison and a
small number of electors from Birdholme
o Saint Marys Division has been created from parts of the old
Saint Mary’s and Newbold divisions
o Staveley South has been renamed Staveley
o Staveley North & Whittington Division remains unchanged
Derbyshire Dales
o The names of the divisions within Derbyshire remain unchanged
but there is a minor change to the boundary between Ashbourne
and Wirksworth divisions. The parishes of Biggin, Callow,
Hulland, Hulland Ward and Kirk Ireton are transferred from the
existing division of Ashbourne to Wirksworth
Erewash
o Breadsall comprises the old Breadsall & West Hallam Division
and part of Kirk Hallam Division
o Breaston Division remains unchanged
o Ilkeston East, Ilkeston South and Ilkeston West divisions have
been created from the old divisions of Cotmanhay, Ilkeston and
Kirk Hallam
o Long Eaton Division remains unchanged
o Petersham Division consists of the old Petersham Division and a
small part of Sawley
o Sandiacre Division remains unchanged
o Sawley Division includes the rest of the old Sawley Diivsion
High Peak
o Buxton North & East and Buxton West Division boundaries are
similar to those of the old divisions although a small part of the
old Buxton West has been transferred to Buxton North & East
o Chapel & Hope Valley Division remains largely unchanged
although a small number of electors have been transferred to
the new Whaley Bridge
o Etherow Division includes all of the old Etherow Division and a
small number of electors from the old Glossop North & Rural
Division
o Glossop & Charlesworth combines the existing division of
Glossop South and most of Glossop North and Rural although
one polling district in St Johns ward has been transferred to
Etherow
o New Mills Division remains unchanged
o Whaley Bridge Division comprises all the old Whaley Bridge and
a small number of electors from Chapel & Hope Valley Division

o To achieve electoral equality across the district there have been
substantial changes to all electoral divisions – there is now one
less division

o To achieve electoral equality across the district there have been
substantial changes to all electoral divisions – including one
extra division.
