Funds invested in this Repurchase Agreement are collaterized by securities that are backed by the fulll faith and credit of the United States Government at a minimum ratio of 103%. These securities are held in trust for the Scott County Board of Education by Wells Fargo Bank N.A. Investment summary: June 30, 2012 6. Mrs. Marshall is the winner of the National Louise Sublette Award of Excellence. Mrs. Marshall has been the winner of the Louise Sublette Award of Excellence for the Southeast Regional for two years and the Louise Sublette Award of Excellence winner for the State for four years. We are very proud of Mitzi. Ms. Hall introduced Mrs. Marshall’s son, Colton Marshall. Colton won the Kentucky School Nutrition Association Breakfast T-shirt Art Contest. We are proud of Colton. Superintendent Putty added there are thousands of schools across the nation and food service managers. We have the number one Nutrition Manager here in Scott County and we are very proud of you. Energy Manager for the District Jim McClanahan introduced Kentucky School Boards Association Director of School Energy Managers Project Ron Willhite. Mr. McClanahan praised the schools – the principals, faculty and students. The energy team members have worked hard and the students have played a big part in the energy savings in the schools. Some schools have won their second and third award during 2012. Ron Willhite added there have been significant dollars being saved and you are retaining the savings and that is important. Mr. McClanahan and Mr. Willhite presented Energy Star Awards to: Principal Paul Krueger for Stamping Ground Elementary School (third award and highest in district at 95), Principal Bryan Blankenship for Southern Elementary School (third award), Principal Michelle Nichols for Elkhorn Crossing School, Principal Ed Denney for Eastern Elementary School (third award), and Principal Shannon Gullett (with students) for Royal Spring Middle School (third award). Superintendent Putty added her appreciation for the work Mr. McClanahan has done and we appreciate Mr. Willhite and his leadership. 8. APPROVE LEVY OF TAX RATES FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2012-13: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Ms. Sams and seconded by Mr. Mason that the Board approve the proposed tax levy rates of 45.3 cents per $100 valuation for real estate and 45.3 cents per $100 valuation for personal property for school year 2012-13. Motion carried 4/1 (Conway). 11. APPROVE 2013 MOTOR VEHICLE AND WATERCRAFT PROPERTY TAX RATE CERTIFICATE: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Dr. Ward and seconded by Mr. Conway that the Board levy a property tax rate of 54.80 cents per $100 of assessed value upon motor vehicles and watercraft for calendar year of 2013. Motion carried unanimously. 12. APPROVE TAXATION OF RECREATIONAL AND NON-COMMERCIAL / AND NONCOMMERCIAL OUT OF STATE OR COAST GUARD REGISTERED WATERCRAFT: Upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, it was moved by Dr. Ward and seconded by Ms. Sams that the Board tax aircraft (recreational and non-commercial) and watercraft (noncommercial out of state or Coast Guard registered). Motion carried unanimously. 13. ENERGY MANAGEMENT STATUS REVIEW – Energy Manager Jim McClanahan gave a PowerPoint presentation showing the amazing savings the schools have made over the last two years. Mr. McClanahan thanked Ms. Putty and everyone for their support. The District Energy Team and School Energy Teams collaborate with the Student Energy Teams. Every project has improved the learning environment for the students at no cost or low cost. Ms. Young added her appreciation for everything Mr. McClanahan and the Energy Teams are doing for the District. 14. SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT: The Superintendent reported on the following: a. Procedures 03.16 AP.1, 03.26 AP.1 and 09.4281 AP.2 were presented to Board members for their review. b. Leadership Kentucky will be hosted at ECS on August 16th with Commissioner Dr. Terry Holliday speaking at 8:30 a.m. c. The Scott County Athletic Hall of Fame will be on Friday, August 17, at Thomas & King starting at 5:30 p.m. to honor Betty “Granny” Graves, Marie Jones, Monty McIntyre and the 2004 State Runner-up Football Team. d. Superintendent Putty shared that we have had a great beginning to our school year and that says a lot about our staff. Ms. Putty added that she can’t say enough about our faculty, transportation department, and Zan’s team, the buildings look great. We have hired exceptional people. It is going to be a great year! 15.
