The facts

Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London Area) + TLR2a (£2535). As the school grows the right
candidate will have lots of opportunity to develop and progress their career.

The Crescent Primary School is a three-form entry school however in 2011 when we opened
we took two additional ‘bulge’ classes to help alleviate the number of pupils seeking
reception places. We therefore have five classes of 30 children in our oldest year group.
These children will be year 3 in September.

90 children were admitted into reception in September 2012 and the governors have made
it clear to the Local Authority that we will not consider taking any more additional pupils.
The school will reach its 630 capacity in 2017.

The building that was previously Selhurst Boys School has been completely refurbished to
provide a bright, exciting, stimulating primary school environment. Building work was
completed in September 2012.

A creative approach to teaching and learning is expected – not ‘death by worksheet’!

Partnership working with The BRIT School makes their expertise in art, dance, drama, music
and ICT available to enhance and enrich The Crescent curriculum.

This is a new school and successful initiatives from previous experience that will make a
positive difference to children’s learning and lives will be welcomed and embraced.

New technology is a feature of the school with creative use of ICT developing a rich and
exciting learning environment.

All classes have the support of a full time (8.30am – 3.30pm) teaching assistant and the
reception classes also have a non-class based teaching assistant provide additional support.

Setting up a new school is very hard work however achieving a healthy work/life balance is
respected and encouraged.

The school has an enthusiastic and committed temporary governing body led by Sir Nick
Williams who was previously the Principal of The BRIT School.

Professional development is encouraged and all staff are given plenty of opportunities to
progress for example the current senior leaders were all internal appointments.
