(iSeries Network) At J.D. Edwards' annual user conference in June, the company announced approximately
400 enhancements to its software. But just 40 of those announcements pertain to JDE's OneWorld software,
which runs on an iSeries. Sounds like JDE may not be as serious about keeping its iSeries customers on an
iSeries, particularly with the controversial PeopleSoft-Oracle situation.

(iSeries Network) IBM's eServer iSeries Technical Conference in Las Vegas drew approximately 550
customers during the last week of June. Curiously enough, IBM refers to this number as "an excellent
turnout," and Big Blue believes it will draw about twice as many people for the fall conference, in Orlando
in October.

(eWeek) To minimize business losses and to mollify queasy customers, PeopleSoft created a customer
protection plan that would spike the company's purchase price by some $354 million if, after Oracle's
proposed takeover of PeopleSoft, Oracle slacks off on selling, developing, or supporting PeopleSoft
applications.

(The 400 Group) A new tax break increases expense write-offs for small businesses by $75,000, allowing
businesses to spend more on their enterprises. Through new incentives and promotions, IBM is positioning
itself to use these breaks to sell more products to its smaller customers, particularly iSeries shops.

(iSeries Network) IBM released CodeRally, its latest programming game to help developers learn Java.
This game features buildable race cars, which can be raced against other human-controlled cars through a
network. More than 225,000 instances of CodeRally, which is based on Eclipse, have been downloaded in
the last month.

(Midrange Server) IBM recently started shipping the new 7206 Model VX2 entry-level tape drive. Based
on Exabyte's 8mm VXA-2 drives, IBM's 7206 Model VX2 offers native capacities of up to 80 GB, transfer
rates of up to 6 MB per second, and the capability to withstand abuse, thanks to its discrete packet
technology and overlapping heads.

(Midrange Server) Linoma Software announced aXes, a new product that Web-enables OS/400
applications on-the-fly, while avoiding use of the 5250 data stream. The software uses XML, FastCGI, data
compression, and a proprietary technology called InterSession to provide fast access to OS/400 application
screens from a Web browser.
