Silver Alert Program
Silver Alert is a notification system sent out statewide, similar
to an Amber Alert, when a person 50 years or older with Alzheimer’s
disease or other dementias goes missing. The individual’s name, age, and photograph
are downloaded to a flash drive and given to their caregiver. In the event the person
goes missing, the flash drive is given to the Rio Rancho Police Department and a Silver
Alert is issued. The program is sponsored by Rio Rancho Police Department, Sandoval
County Sheriff’s Office, and the Meadowlark Senior Center

The MSC Annual Art Exhibition date has been set for Saturday, March 14.
Registration for Artists to display there work opens Thursday, February 12 in the
Programs Office. Space is limited so don’t delay. Cost is free however we do ask
that a piece of art or craft piece be donated for the silent auction. See Lisa in the
Programs Office for further details.

The Meadowlark Senior Center will be closed Thursday, January 1 for
New Year’s Day and Monday, January 19 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Inclusion for special needs populations is standard for all Senior Services programs. If special accommodations are
required, please inform staff upon registration.









This month Registration is Thursday, January 8 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the
MSC dining room and will resume at 11:00 a.m. at the front desk. Phone-in’s will
be accepted starting at 2:00 p.m.
Numbers will be given out at the Lobby Desk beginning at 8:00 a.m. on a first-come,
first-served basis. A list of names will not be accepted as a place holder for receiving
your number. Persons must be in line to receive a number.
You must show your membership card to receive a number.
A MEMBER can register for oneself and one other MEMBER — no exceptions
allowed and the person registering must show both membership ID's.
Please Bring Correct Change. Change cannot made for anything over
$10.
Make checks payable to the City of Rio Rancho.
If you are registered for a trip or class and must cancel, please inform
the front desk as soon as possible so your spot can be filled by someone
from the waiting list.
Fees are non-refundable unless someone from the waiting list can take
your place or the activity is cancelled by MSC.
Registration is accepted 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Mon. through Fri.

Hanna Somatics is an effective way to learn how to relax and move muscles properly. It

Clay Hand Sculpture
Create hand built clay objects using coiled or flat sheets of clay for 3-dimension items.
Basic kiln, firing, drying time and wedging will be demonstrated and explained. The

The Museum of Spanish Colonial Art collects, preserves, and exhibits the Spanish

Home pickup and/or drop-off is available for Rio Rancho residents needing transportation for MSC trips

Attention Members
Our members bring a wealth of knowledge to the center. Would you like to share some
of your professional expertise or creative ability with MSC members? The Programs
Office is looking for a few new class instructors and guest speakers. Drop by the
Programs Office to talk about your knowledge, skills and ideas.
BoxTops for Education
MSC is collecting Box Tops for Education for Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rio Rancho
Elementary Schools for school supplies. Look for the Box Tops for Education logo on
hundreds of products. Clip the logo from the package and drop it in the box located on
the shelf (near the telephone) at the front entrance. The box tops will be delivered
periodically to the schools.
Pool Room Closure
The pool room is closed from 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. the first and third Tuesday every month
for pool table cleaning and maintenance.
2015 Chess Tournament
The Andy Nowak Memorial Senior Championship Open
This year’s tournament is named in honor of Andy Nowak. Andy worked mostly with
children and began a trust fund to sponsor Scholastic Chess in New Mexico. The
tournament is open to USCF members in and out of state.
