Description: Completion of a 17-day (108 hours) post graduate training course
on the McKenzie Method of mechanical diagnosis and therapy. The McKenzie
Method® is a philosophy of active patient involvement and education for back,
neck and extremity issues. Its centerpiece is a data and research proven
methodology backed by therapists worldwide.
Motion Palpation - 108 Hours
Description: A chiropractic technique that emphasizes integration of static,
dynamic, and functional assessment techniques of the spine and extremities with
manual treatment methods of care using adjustment/manipulation, soft tissue
mobilization, functional rehabilitation and biopsychosocial advice.
Diversified - 225 Hours
Description: A chiropractic technique that emphasizes static and dynamic
assessment techniques of the spine and extremities with adjustment/manipulation
of restricted joints.
Graston (Modules 1 & 2 – 30 Hours)
Description: An instrumented assisted form of soft tissue mobilization that finds
and treats adhesion of soft tissues with controlled force. The technique
incorporates assessment of soft tissues, treatment with the instruments, and
rehabilitation of soft tissues with stretching and therapeutic exercise.
Active Release Technique (ART® Spine Certified) – 45 Hours
Description: A soft tissue technique that emphasizes freeing of adhesion
between muscles, fascia, and joints using manual forces directed through specific
contacts during patient lengthening movements.
Manual Therapy & Soft Tissue Techniques - 200 Hours
Description: Joint mobilization techniques, myofascial release, post isometric
relaxation (PIR), strain-counterstrain, Mulligan mobilizations, and neural
mobilization.
Functional Rehabilitation (225 Hours)
Description: A manual medicine technique that employs active care strategies
encouraging therapeutic exercise to address specific functional deficits of
strength, ROM, activities of daily living (ADL’s) or sports/recreational activities.
Cox Flexion-Distraction (45 Hours)
Description: A chiropractic technique that emphasizes low force
manipulation/adjustment of spinal joints with assistance of a table providing
small graded joint movements combined with a distractive force.
Activator (45 Hours)
Description: A chiropractic technique that emphasizes low force instrument
assisted manipulation/adjustment to specific joints of the spine and extremities.
Thompson (45 Hours)
Description: A chiropractic technique that employs a drop assisted table to
provide manipulation/adjustment to the joints of the spine and extremities. The
technique uses the table to provide leverage and speed necessary for adjustments.
Basic (135 Hours)
Description: A chiropractic technique that emphasizes the sacrum, pelvis, and
associated ligaments as a fulcrum to balance forces through the joints and soft
tissues of the spine.
Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) – 135 Hours
Description: A chiropractic technique that emphasizes the relationship between
the occiput (skull), sacrum, and the spinal cord (dura). The technique corrects
motion of the skull, sacrum and spinal cord (dura) with adjustments/manipulation
to affected areas.

Completion of the McKenzie Method certification exam in mechanical diagnosis
and therapy. The McKenzie Method is an evidence, based assessment, treatment
and prevention tool that focuses on active care, self treatment, evidence based
methodologies that promote patient independence and reduction of non necessary
medical expenditures. At print (December 31, 2013) there are 16 credentialed
chiropractors out of over 3,000 licensed chiropractors in Illinois.

McKenzie Method Part D: Advanced Cervical and Thoracic Spine & Extremities – Upper
Limb (Days 13-16)
A four day workshop (28 hours) that reviews and advances the theory and
practical application of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in relation to the
Cervical and Thoracic Spine with an introduction into theory and practical
application of MDT for the upper limb. This is the fourth of 4 required courses
to be eligible to certification in mechanical diagnosis and therapy.

9-12)
A four day workshop (28 hours) that reviews and advances the theory and

limb. This is the third of 4 required courses to be eligible for certification in
mechanical diagnosis and therapy.
