Christopher Columbus Essay Contest: Open to students of all age groups, grades 9-12. Essay of 800-1,200 words;

Good Citizen Scholarship: open to all senior class students – 3 are chosen for submission. (only one student from
any school is selected). Scholarship has two parts: 1) personal description of high school activities, how your efforts
to serve the community have been effective or have made a difference, future plans / education / career goals,
extracurricular activities, and why you feel the 4 qualities of a DAR Good Citizen (dependability, service, leadership, and
patriotism) are important and how you have tried to exhibit those qualities in your life and in your relationships with

Gates Millennium Scholarship:
This is a renewable, need-based, merit scholarship for college undergraduates.
Criteria:
African-American, American Indian / Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, Hispanic American; permanent resident; HS GPA
of 3.30 unweighted; enroll in college or university in Fall 2012 as full time student, have demonstrated leadership abilities
through participation in community service, extracurricular activities, or other activities; meet federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria;
