*5000.2 - SPECIAL PART-TIME
STUDENTS
**Under the following provisions, a
student who is under 18 years of age
and who has completed the 8th grade
may be admitted as a part-time student
to classes conducted by the San
Jose/Evergreen Community College
District whenever space is available.
The student shall attend grades 9
through 12 for at least a minimum
school day.
The student shall comply with
application and admission procedures
established by the college district for
such students.
The student shall present the colleges
with a signed statement from the parents
and school principal indicating what
courses or areas of study the student
desires. The student, subject to college
approval, may be admitted to courses
provided he/she has met academic
standards.
Upon written recommendation to the
President of the College by an
appropriate
elementary
school
administrator, the President, or his/her
designee, may admit students below the
9th grade level to college classes. Such
students shall meet college and course
prerequisites.

and the wearing of buttons, badges, or other
insignia.
Students shall be free to exercise their
rights of free expression, subject to the
requirements of this policy.
Speech shall be prohibited that is
defamatory, obscene according to current
legal standards, or which so incites others
as to create a clear and present danger of
the commission of unlawful acts on district
property or the violation of district policies
or procedures, or the substantial disruption
of the orderly operation of the District.
Nothing in this policy shall prohibit the
regulation of hate violence or hate speech,
so long as the regulation conforms to the
requirements of the First Amendment to the
United States Constitution, and of Section 2
of Article 1 of the California Constitution.
Students may be disciplined for
harassment, threats, intimidation, or hate
violence unless such speech is
constitutionally protected.
