Bio: With a sensible approach to design in mind, Christina Lauren founded her company on the
idea that design should be interesting, personal and organic. Drawing from her formal training, as
well as a background in both set decoration and residential design, Christina incorporates historical
with new to create unique interiors.
Entrada: Walking into the Entrada, you are greeted with rich tones of twilight taupe and terra
cotta. Sustainability being very important, the flooring will be kept original, as well as the stair
railing. To peak interest, natural elements, including petrified wood, geodes and touches of flora,
will be incorporated through the design area. The feeling is inviting and interesting.
Main Staircase: The Main Staircase will be decorated with original art works from local artists,
including Ron Pastucha. The tile on the risers, original to the home, will be exposed slightly while a
deep blue runner leads you to the Upstairs Gallery
Upstairs Gallery: Away from the Entrada, the Upstairs Gallery is meant to be more playful.
While the integrity of the design is still represented with natural elements and greenery, the seating
arrangement off the stairway is a more modern comfortable look.
Powder Room: The Powder Room’s focus will be the vibrant tile walls, with minor improvements
such as new fixtures and flooring. To really make the walls stand out, 1” white hex tiles (which is
what would have originally been the flooring) will be adorned with dark blue drop-in tiles. It is
meant to be a mix of classic and new.

Living Room: Subtle warm neutral toned fabrics set the quiet stage for very large oil paintings that
create the dramatic backdrop for the Living Room. The Tibetan rug in a warm amber hue adds
elegance underfoot. A grand piano helps give the room a sense of drama and allows a background
for social situations. A large table can be used for multiple purposes - a quiet spot for an intimate
dinner fireside or a bar set up for a large party. Multiple seating groups accommodate many,
including the family dog. The elegantly casual atmosphere encourages interaction on many
different levels and many different occasions at any hour.

medium blue from the palette to compliment the rich existing paneling and bookcases. A vintage
Baker sofa will add a comfortable place to read, lounge, or nap. F. Schumacher Co. has provided a
blue mohair velvet. The pillow fabric and desk chair fabric are by Martin Lawrence Bullard, also

Breezeway: An interior space that can double as an exterior with sights of the garden and the
fabulous iron works in the Breezeway doors. While you are enjoying a cop of coffee with the daily
newspaper, or taking your shoes off before entering the house, you can sit comfortably and listen to
the peaceful water feature. L2 Interiors changed this space for peace and quiet with colorful mural
ceilings and tiled walls. A chandelier that is meticulously placed in the center of the rug-like mural
provides mood lighting. Vibrant colors are bought in with plants so that your eye s drawn to the
ceiling. Its spa-like experience, before you enter or walk through the other spaces of the house,
makes this a perfect place for comfort.

towards classic California style as exhibited in the charming architectural detail of this Spanish
Colonial Revival home. Flooring is terracotta and blends handsomely with the adjacent rooms. The
countertops are a distinctive metamorphic stone, “Oasis Green,” combined with the deep rich
mahogany island. A unique door detail is used as inspiration for the custom hood and window

The Dining Room: The words light, sophisticated and elegant aptly describe the Dining Room.
The dining table is custom made and is designed by Karina Oldemans, with the top made of
antiquated mirrored glass panels to reflect the light from the chandelier. The elegant Erika Brunson
host and hostess chairs and Bausman and Co. side chairs in shimmering antiqued silver finish are
upholstered in a sophisticated Clarence House fabric. A persimmon Tibetan rug anchors the room.
A tough of whimsy is added by the Erika Brunson Twig consol.

Architecture, Inc. will celebrate the architectural integrity of this space, by maintaining the rich
original historic design, materials and features while revitalizing it for contemporary living. The

The walls will be soft cream in color with a decorative Spanish influenced border hand painted at
chair rail height in rich accents of terra cotta, brick, olive and slate blue.
The master balcony runs the entire length of the second floor hallway and exits into the master
bedroom vestibule. It overlooks the surrounding hills and back courtyard. To maximize enjoyment

remodeling and interior architecture. Kathryne’s interest in interiors comes from wanting her clients to be
surrounded by environments that are pleasing for both living and working. She enjoys working closely with
architects and contractors from the preliminary planning stages throughout the duration of the project
towards completion.
Master Suite/Sitting Room/Balcony / His and Her Closet / Master Bath: The design creates tranquil
suite with mostly neutral, taupe and cream accented with blue tones. It is a striking contrast to the soft
neutral plastered walls and the boldness of the Kashmir blue and white print curtain and canopy of the
Spanish colonial four-poster bed. Luxurious cream “Frette” linens are on the bed. Darker toned furniture
mixes with soft subtle linen fabrics. A seating area and writing desk complete the space. The ceiling is
decorated with a stenciled design reminiscent of old world Spain. The sitting room is dedicated to comfort.
A new limestone mantle surround adds warmness to the space with a seating area nearby and a quilted chaise
piled with pillows, an invitation for tea or to relax and immerse yourself in a wonderful book. A remodeled
bathroom featuring a new stylish square stand-alone bathtub replaces the built-in. Gleaming nickel fixtures, a
striking contrast against the marble and tile. The walls are covered with an appealing mix of white, chocolate
brown and taupe Spanish Moroccan tiles and the beautiful marble slab combine all the colors of the tiles.
The shower and toilet room were decreased in size to allow more space in the room. A closet was removed
to create a separate his and her cabinet and vanity. Blue accents add a splash of color to the space.

recently named her “up-and arrived” and she has been covered by Angeleno Interiors and on HGTV

Lady’s Office: A streamlined, flexible and serene personal retreat for working and relaxing that
subtly nods to her cosmopolitan life and style. Soft, airy colors and reflective finishes create a sense
of airiness, space and volume in an otherwise tight space, balancing the strong afternoon heat and
strong light. Playing with scale and wallpaper creates a trompe l’oeil effect that disguises soffits, a
low ceiling, and generally cramped proportions by occupying the eye with plays of texture and
pattern. Finally, beautiful fabrics in a rich mix of patterns and textures, collected porcelains, books
showcasing her interests, and an oversized pin board for notes, photos, and inspiration come
together to create the perfect place to run her mini-empire or retreat, relax and reflect on what’s
been and what’s to come.

quality custom framing, antique prints and works on paper, art consultation, and interior design

House of Design.
Sleeping Porch, Hall and Staircase: The most interesting original decorative feature in this area is
a set of three ships painted on the wood paneled murphy beds. I have proposed additional painting
details to border the ships and on the ceiling beams by artist Ken Moffatt which will have the feeling
of chart or book illuminations. The room was used to house spill over guests so the idea of travel
and the high seas will be used as a theme through the space. The artwork will be hung from custom
art rails using ropes and different sailing knots. The artwork will include original Captain Cook
sailing charts, nautical views, star maps and sea monsters ranging in date from the 17th century to
contemporary works. The framed art will be so plentiful that it will be layered very much like a
lady’s charm bracelet. A funky floor lamp made of stacked globes and topped with a shade made
of fan-folded maps is in the works as well as a dog crated for our canine traveler that will serve
double duty as a side table.

and dedication that allows for Debra Lynn's harmonious and delightful design.
Boy’s Beach Bungalow: Debra Lynn Henno's fun, playful, interactive, and comfortable room is a
perfect getaway for a young California boy. The dark walnut stained built-in desk and dresser will be lightened
and updated with a custom light brown-taupe finish which will coordinate with the Bali Boatwood siding to
be placed on the platform of the bunk bed.
The aquas, teals, blues and whites of the Boatwood combined with raffia wallpaper applied to the back of the
bookcase, and batik fabrics from Quadrille used for pillows and window treatment, will transform this dark
and dated room into a light filled beach bungalow retreat. Here he can rest his head and dream of surf filled
days at the beach or pow-wow with his friends and enjoy his favorite electronic games on the newly installed
flat screen monitor at the back of the bookcase.
8
Opposite the bunk bed you'll find a comfy chenille lounge chair and ottoman accompanied by a floor lamp
with linen drum shade and a large, unique paper collage art piece complete with sun and ocean wave....and of
course, a color coordinated surf board placed in the nearby corner. Come ride the waves of glee and youth in

styles and periods, ranging from eclectic modern to classically traditional, always with an unexpected

and modern elements, layering luxurious fabrics while balancing color and texture, and always
infusing a little of the unexpected. The results of her vision are timeless modern classics, inviting
spaces with undeniable interest.
Guest Bedroom: Inspired by a recent trip to Istanbul and an antique sezani acquired from a
Turkish dealer, the guest room is full jewel tones and bold geometric details found in Islamic
architecture and decoration. Playing up the Moorish details found in the existing architecture of this
historic home, hand painting the floor in three shades of patina green in a Moorish tile pattern
boldly offers a modern perspective. The walls, casework and trim are all painted in patina green to
open up the space. Cork wall covering is applied to the ceiling and backs of the bookcases that flank
the focal point of this space, a custom daybed with trundle to made to look like three oversized
stacked floor pillows. The daybed is topped with matching bolsters and colorful throw pillows.
9
Behind the bed, a giant custom floor mirror visually doubles the space. A pointing illuminated by a
brass picture light and pair of sconces is mounted directly on the morrow. The antique suzani is
repurposed as a throw blanket on the daybed. Opposite the daybed, a faux Tibetan lambs wool
beanbag and horn floor lamp will create a cozy nook for reading wile a desk and brass klismos hair
serve as a place for guests to work on a laptop or apply make-up. A brass sputnik light fixture adds
whimsy.

Girl’s Bedroom: A mix of lilac and aqua hued fabrics and accents makes this soft and refreshing
bedroom an enclave for unwinding. Because the room evokes equal parts softness and strength, it’s
designed for a dual purpose: to be whisked away from the day-to-day reality and to transport the
young reveler to a resting place where she s surrounded by happy whimsy and is also a place to
refresh and liven her spirits. It’s the perfect room for a young girl to relax in, hang out with friends
or to dream in.
The room swells with pastel tones and femininity. The sumptuous textures and patterns in this
bedroom are pleasing to the touch as to the eye. The key furniture piece is the custom made bed
and nightstands layered with Italian sateen bedding and draped with flowing linens and raw
unprocessed silk. The bed angled horizontally, opens up the room for a mirrored vanity table and
tall mirror to inspire dress up dreams for a young girl to delight in. The floating flora and fauna
wallpaper placed on the closet doors adds to the playfulness and whimsy. The Designers Guild silk
print on the windows is a fun contemporary twist to a traditional floral pattern and ties all of the
colors of the room together. This room is delightfully youthful and yet, an elegant space for a
young girl to grow and flourish in.

Casita: The Casita, as envisioned by Mark Cutler, is a fantastic get away that captures both the feeling of
early California and the curated eye of a collector. Embodying Cutlers’ philosophy of “the Luxury of
Simplicity,” the suite of rooms is intended to look like an effortless assemblage that brings together both
traditional and modern elements in unexpected ways.
The first thing that visitors will notice is the bold use of color, with turquoise painted wood floors
running throughout the suite to create unity between the four rooms, yet provide a foundation for each
individual scheme.
The Great Room is a study in the way a small space can still provide for multiple uses. The entry vestibule
is created by using a banquette seating block to guide the visitor into the room, where the new Kitchenette
juxtaposes the old world charm of below counter drapery and open shelving with modern elements like a
poured-in-place concrete sink. Dinnerware provided by Heath Ceramics reinforces ties to early California
design of the 1920’s.
The Dining area features a vinyl banquette that playfully references the old burger joints California is
famous for. The adjacent seating area is anchored by a TV display fashioned from a repurposed artist’s easel,
along with an eclectic collection of vintage and new furniture pieces that complete the feel of a collected
grouping that encompasses both modern and traditional elements.
The color palette in the Great Room is emphasized by the multi-colored and stylized floral print adorning the
windows and upholstery that draws from the same colors. Of particular note are the vintage early American
blankets that have been repurposed as upholstery sources.
Located through a sliding barn-style door, the Main Bedroom is anchored by a vintage bobbin bed that is
flanked by mismatched bedside tables and low hanging cage ceiling lights. A festive multicolored cotton print
is quilted and used as a bed cover, while a chocolate open weave fabric with a hot pink lining is used for
window coverings.
At the foot of the bed is an industrial-inspired desk made from aged iron and antique wood paired with a
Thebes stool underneath. The continued mix of styles in this room contributes to the feel of an artistic
sensibility within the retreat.

The last room features a built in bed niche with a chalk back wall for those middle of the night strokes of
inspiration. Accents such as an oversized shearling bean bag chair, vintage sconces and open shelving
featuring a variety of teenage collectables round out this casually curated design.

Writer’s Retreat: The Writer’s Retreat is a true getaway from the rest of the house, a serene space
in monochromatic cream tones with a variety of textures and accents of coral and blue. The walnut
plank flooring adds warmth to this space, which has a core contemporary feel than the main house.
A one-of-a-kind desk with a single slab of wood top is placed at an angle to anchor the room while
allowing the writer to take in views of the plaster fireplace and beautiful treetops outside. One wall
features an electronic “inspiration wall” in the form of a large screen to display multiple images that,
when touched, expand in size and display a quote. A mirrored wall across from the windows
reflects the trees from interior and expands the size of the room. A bulletin board installed on top
of the mirrored wall allows for additional inspirational objects and quotes.
There are two areas for relaxing – a built in sofa in front of the window doubles as a day bed and
two chairs by the fireplace create a cozy sitting area.
Two chandeliers and four sconces finished in bronze color replace some of the existing recessed
lighting in the main room. The corner closet has ben turned into a kitchenette with a sink, under
counter refrigerator and microwave. Wood cabinets and red IceStone counter continue the color
palette into this space.
The powder room has a wainscot of sculptural cream color tile topped with a wood chair rail. The
focal point of the powder room is an organic wood pedestal supporting a bronze vessel sink.
