Lesson 11 Date: Thursday, November 13th to Wednesday, November 19th Team teachers: Mrs. Ali & Mrs. Al Sakhawy Grades: 6, 7, & 8 Students’ Names in Arabic and the singular subject pronouns Objectives: Students will be able to 1. Know the personal pronouns Ana , hwa , heya , Anti , Anta : 2. The new letters : ه– و هي- هو- أ نا - أنت- أنت ( WOW . ha2 ) 3. Again they will see that the WOW and the Alf are two letters that are connected to the letter on their write and not on their left such as the words : أن اwhere the first Alef is not connected to the letter noon on its left while the second alef is connected to the noon which is on its right. Another example is : با ب- أ ب . The second letter is Wow and the word given will be : أ بو- وا و 4. The letter : ha2 ( ) ه: is a letter connected from the right and the left : examples : هبه- بهو- هو- هي 5. Their names in Arabic to practice writing them 6. Reviewing the previous letters that will be present in the new words Materials: 1. Flash cards including their names in Arabic : Each student will be given that flash card to practice writing their names in Arabic 2. Flash Cards including the pronouns : 3. The board 1 أنت- أن ا- هي – ه و 4. Colored chalk for practicing writing the new words on the board while practicing writing the letters in words and using them in the middle , beginning or end of the word Standards: 1.1 interpersonal communications 2.1: Understanding Culture and social interaction 4.2 Comparisons of culture Procedures: 1. First the three pronouns will be introduced orally to the whole class by using these pronouns together with their names. the teacher points to herself and a boy and a girl then says : هي ما ريا- هو رود ريكو- أنا اآل ستا دة فاطمة 2. This will be repeated several times and they will be asked to guess what these personal pronouns stand for. ( I – he – she - singular you ) 3. Then the four pronouns will be written on the board and should read the first one Ana since all the letters have been given to them before. Then the letter Wow and ha2 will be introduced and then used at the beginning, middle and end of the words to know how they are written in different positions. then the words : Ana , hwa and heya , enta , enti will be read again saying the sounds and then reading the three pronouns 4. Each group will be given the flash cards for their names and the four pronouns and then each person will be asked to stand and use the flash cards by saying Ana and the name , hwa and says the boy’s name and heya and then a girl’s name and then pointing to someone and saying either enti or enta according to the gender of the person he is talking to . They should hold the right flash card while pointing to the boy or girl. 5. We will emphasize the difference between the singular female (you) and the singular male (you) by teaching them the downward movement and the upward one which makes all the difference in the pronunciation of the letter and to whom this word represent. Closure: 2 Saying the words again and asking them to repeat them Homework: 1. Writing their names as they will be asked to write it the next time without looking at it 2.
