“Violence of Action”
Starring Steven Seagal
After leaving the force, Elijah Kane (Steven Seagal) falls back onto
his special forces past, re-emerging from the ashes of his destroyed
SIU to once again work for the government. Aware of his skill as a
long-range sniper, Kane is recruited by Marcus Mitchell (Adrian
Holmes) of the CIA to come back as an operative. In return, Marcus
promises that the CIA will provide information to Kane about who
put out the hit on his SIU team. Kane is given a long-term ‘off-thegrid’ mission to take out a high level target that the CIA cannot go
after in the ‘traditional’ way. Marcus feeds Kane intel that leads him
into the target’s ‘circle’ with a goal of getting Kane close enough to
take a kill shot from a distance. Only then will the identity of the
target be revealed to the team. For this operation, Kane recruits
Mark Simms (Lochlyn Munro), Johnny Garcia (Jesse Hutch), and
Jessica Finch (Tanaya Beatty) to form a new team of operatives. All
three agents are trained by Kane and ultimately driven (like Kane)
by more than just business, but also for personal reasons.

Synopsis
True Justice: The Ghost – “Violence of Action” begins with Leka
(Bradley Stryker), Zef, and Jak (Nelson Leis) hijacking an armor-plated
van in a brazen shootout. Zef is killed during the robbery and the other
two take the van back to a safe house where Matt is waiting with a
plasma-cutting rig. The hijacked truck was carrying $20 million of
Mexican cartel drug money. Elijah Kane (Steven Seagal) agrees to help
Marcus Mitchell (Adrian Holmes) with the case when he sees that Bojan
Krasniqi (Darren Shahlavi) was involved with the men who heisted the
truck. Bojan, Kane’s former protégé, was thought dead by the CIA, but
he is alive and leading a highly-trained group of operators called
“Quicksilver” who were supposed to hit the money truck before Leka
and Jak took it for themselves.
Kane tells Diego, the leader of Seattle’s Mexican cartel, he’s after
the guys who stole the money – and to not retaliate. Kane sends Johnny
Garcia (Jesse Hutch) and Mark Simms (Lochlyn Munro) to visit
Preacher, a biker boss who has information on the heist. Preacher
points them in the direction of Matt’s girlfriend, Shelby. Simms and
Johnny get Matt’s phone number from Shelby and Kane and Sarah go to
Matt’s location. The Quicksilver team arrives while Kane helps Leka and
Jak stay alive long enough for Kane to get a lead. Jak is then killed in the
fight and Kane leaves Leka for Diego to do as he will.
Marcus then tells Kane about Salim Abboud, a Hezbollah money
launderer who is coming to town in two days. The CIA think Abboud
launders Eidolon’s money and Kane knows he has to kill Abboud to
draw Eidolon to the surface. Kane tells Johnny and Simms to scout the
airfield where Abboud will arrive for Intel. Kane takes Sarah to
question Bojan’s girlfriend, Luna, but Bojan is hiding in the back and
attacks them while also managing to escape. Finch thinks that Eidolon
now uses Quicksilver as his own private army of lethal bodyguards.
Kane then sets up with his sniper rifle and waits for Abboud to
arrive. Sarah and Simms scout traffic from the ground while Finch
monitors air traffic from her computer. Abboud arrives and is greeted
by Bojan and his Quicksilver team. Kane shoots Abboud, but quickly
discovers that he has only killed his decoy, not the real Abboud. The
Quicksilver team escapes with Abboud into a nearby building and Kane
and his team breech the building and kill the Quicksilver operators.
Abboud then escapes and Sarah gives chase while Kane and Bojan fight.
Kane demands to know about Eidolon, but Bojan refuses to tell Kane.
Kane then manages to learn all he needs to know and kills Bojan.
Sarah follows Abboud to a parking garage and witnesses Abboud
hand off hundreds of large diamonds to an unknown man. Sarah
continues to track Abboud to the roof as Johnny and Simms arrive as
back up. They see Abboud’s dead body fall off the roof, but do now see
who killed him with Sarah suddenly being ambushed and shot by the
unknown man…..
Production Notes
True Justice: The Ghost – “Violence of Action” stars powerhouse
action icon Steven Seagal as Elijah Kane, a former cop seeking justice for
the death of his undercover team. After leaving the force, Kane enlists
Jessica Finch, Johnny Garcia, and Mark Simms to help him find the
person responsible for the deaths of his SIU team. The three new team
members, each possessing a special skill set making them invaluable to
the mission, and Kane dive into a world thick with deception, violence,
and personal vendettas.
Executive producer Phillip B. Goldfine explains that True Justice:
The Ghost works because “it’s the story, first and foremost, the
characters second, and the idea that you have Steven Seagal doing
something he hasn’t done before”. Mixed with the hand-to-hand action,
that Seagal is best known for, and the cop procedural background his
character retains, Seagal has never really showcased this side of him in a
one-hour action show. Goldfine goes on to say that the combination of
all these unique attributes “really helps to make something that is
completely different, that gives the audience something unique, but also
extremely satisfying”.
Tanaya Beatty who plays the computer hacker, Jessica Finch, in
the series also promoted the differences of True Justice: The Ghost as
being the basis for her excitement to join Seagal’s new team. “I never
got to do an action series before, it was really different, and I liked my
character because of these differences, it was just a lot of fun,” Beatty
said. For Jesse Hutch, who embodies the gunslinger Johnny Garcia in
the series, however, it was the similarities between the cast that excited
him the most. He explained, “the personalities we all have really
meshed together and we all have a kind of similar sense of humor,
because it is an ensemble we’ll sit there and between cast and crew
you’ll find 10-50 of us sitting in one room and you’ll find us just telling
jokes [to each other]”. He then adds that, like Beatty, “I like the change, I
like having different sets, and I like having different story lines, and I
like having different story arcs and I never know what’s going to be
happening next and for me that’s kind of exciting” clearly making True
Justice: The Ghost a unique and distinctive experience for everyone.
Concerning the star and creator of the show Goldfine describes
differences in “the fact that he’s [Seagal] going out there and he’s no
longer a cop, per se, so he has a lot more leeway in terms of going after
the bad guys in very creative and original ways that we haven’t really
seen before and that the audience hasn’t really seen before”. Coexecutive producer Binh Dang compares the action icon to John Wayne,
“he is a man that knows what he wants and I still don’t see anyone out
there doing action the way that he does action, the fight scenes he does
are amazing and they’re real, you feel the hits”.
Even the differences between the first and second season of True
Justice are apparent. According to writer/director Keoni Waxman in
Season 1 “we discovered that we loved what we were doing, but Steven
Seagal action is ‘above the law’ and here we have a guy playing a cop
and we want to see him break an arm, but you can’t do that as a cop, so
what we started doing was bringing up worse and worse bad guys, but
then we realized let’s let Kane bring it back” and the show took a new
and different direction. Producer Benjamin F. Sacks says in the first
movie of the new season “Steven is trying to rebuild a team and take
care of bad guys in a way that he could not take care of them if he was a
cop, he is dispatching True Justice”.
About The Cast
Steven Seagal – Television star, movie star, action hero, and seventh
degree black belt Aikido master, Steven Seagal is an international icon.
At a young age, Seagal had a passion for music and an obsession for
martial arts; he studied Aikido, Asian religions, philosophy, and ancient
healing practices. At seventeen, he moved to Japan where he became an
ushi-deshi, a student who lives and works in a dojo – a school for
martial arts. He eventually earned a seventh degree black belt and
master credentials in Aikido.
In 1985, Seagal opened a dojo in Los Angeles thus attracting
Hollywood heavyweights Sean Connery, James Coburn, and agent
Michael Ovitz. This segued into filmmaking.
Warner Bros.’ Above The Law was Seagal’s debut film in 1988, which
he also co-wrote and co-produced. Above The Law was an explosive
blockbuster that launched Seagal’s career as an actor, writer, and star.
His next film, Under Siege, starring opposite Tommy Lee Jones, solidified
Seagal’s bankable star power.
Another facet of Seagal’s personality emerged in 2004, with the
release of his CD Songs From the Crystal Cave, which has been climbing
the charts in France. His follow up CD was Mojo Priest. The CD contains
titles for the American ultra consonances of blues and folk music, as
well as the song world of Reggae and Arab music. Included on the CD
are such prestigious guests as B.B. King and Stevie Wonder. Music adds
a new cord to the actor’s arc.
Seagal’s worldwide humanitarian and philanthropic interests takes
the actor to the far corners of the earth. Spending time and money is his
way of giving back.
As actor and producer, Seagal has filmed an outstanding library of
feature films, including one of Robert Rodriguez’s latest films, Machete.
Now in its second season, over 1.5 million viewers watched Seagal’s
television series, A&E’s “Lawman,” the networks highest premiere
viewership in its history. True Justice: The Ghost, airing on the
REELZCHANNEL, marks just one of the busy star’s latest projects.
Sarah Lind – is well known for her critically acclaimed and multiple
award-winning performance in the television series Edgemont. In her
feature film work, Sarah has starred alongside Hillary Duff and Steve
Coogan in What Goes Up, and Michelle Pfeiffer and Ashton Kutcher in
Personal Effects among others. Sarah has also held memorable guest
starring credits in such shows as Dead Like Me, Reaper, Blade, Smallville,
and The ‘L’ Word. True Justice: The Ghost will mark her latest work in
an action television series.
Tanaya Beatty – was born in Vancouver, Canada to a First Nations
descendent mother and a Himalayan father, but was adopted and raised
by a loving Italian family. Throughout her life acting has always been a
passion. Feeling shy during high school, theatre and art were a way to
connect and express. In 2010 she graduated from the Vancouver Film
School where she completed the full time Essentials and Acting
Program. Since graduating she has appeared in The Twilight Saga:
Breaking Dawn - Part 1, as well as the Gemini award winning series
Blackstone where she played the fun and spunky character, Sandra, and
most recently a recurring character on CBC’s new series Arctic Air. She
currently resides in Vancouver where in her spare time she enjoys
painting, biking, writing, and yoga.
Jesse Hutch – is a Canadian-born film and television actor. He attended
an Outdoor Education Program at Algonquin College and was a white
water raft guide for four years before beginning to pursue a career as an
actor. He first appeared in character roles in productions such as Dark
Angel, Smallville, and Taken. Along with these popular shows he has
since been seen in episodes of The CW’s Hellcats and ABC Family’s Kyle
XY along with films Freddy vs. Jason, Ashton Kutcher’s The Butterfly
Effect, and The Tooth Fairy with Dwayne Johnson.
Lochlyn Munro – started his acting career after a serious sports injury
ended his dream of playing professional hockey. A talented musician,
Munro turned his attention to the performing arts. While playing music
in various clubs around Vancouver, British Colombia, Munro studied
drama and improvisational comedy with many of the industry’s top
professionals, including the late Susan Strasberg. Having done a lot of
stage work, Munro then jumped into the television and film world with
instant success. Munro landed roles on various American projects such
as 21 Jump Street, Wiseguy, and others. After numerous guest roles and
leads on TV shows and films, Munro landed a role in Clint Eastwood’s
Unforgiven. He has gone on to show tremendous range throughout his
acting career by creating memorable characters in such films as Dead
Man on Campus, A Night at the Roxbury, and Scary Movie.
William “Bigsleeps” Stewart – “BIGSLEEPS” as he likes to be called,
began his entertainment career in the music industry, performing as an
opening act for major recording artists, Pioneers from Public Enemy and
Ice T, Naughty by Nature, and Ludacris. His career in television and film
began on CityTV’s, Island Underground where after he haphazardly fell
into acting, landing roles in independent films and the hit television
series, Blade. Lately, he’s been seen on the hit series, Sanctuary and
Pretty Little Liars as well as making appearances in the summer
blockbuster The Day the Earth Stood Still and the Seth Rogen comedy,
50/50. True Justice: The Ghost reunites Stewart with action star
Steven Seagal.
Adrian Holmes – born in the UK, and with Barbados heritage, Holmes
now makes Vancouver and Los Angeles his home. His career began in
the theatre and soon transitioned into film and television with a wide
range of roles on such shows as Fringe, Supernatural, and Battlestar
Galactica. His portrayal of “Basqat has been a fan favorite from season
nine of the long running series Smallville. In 2004, Holmes also received
a Leo nomination for his work in the SiFi series The Collector. In 2008
Holmes went on to appear opposite Halle Berry as her love interest in
the feature Frankie and Alice, then soon alongside one of his favorite
actors, Gary Oldman, in the film Red Riding Hood, directed by Catherine
Hardwick (Twilight).
Adrian can be next seen in the second season of True Justice: The
Ghost with veteran action star Steven Seagal as well as on the big
screen with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster in the upcoming SiFi film
Elysium, directed by Neill Blomkamp (District 9).
In between projects, Holmes’ goal is to give back and he actively
volunteers with many organizations, especially those involving children.
His intention is to give inspiration and hope so others too can recognize
and have the tools to achieve their goals and dreams. 2 Corinthians 5:7
“Walk by faith not by sight.”
Darren Shahlavi – was seven years old when he started training in
martial arts in an old drama theatre in Manchester, England. Inspired
by Bruce Lee’s films and other action movies such as Star Wars, he
dreamed of being a movie actor and would show up to his Judo class at
the drama hall early in order to watch actors rehearse and perform
plays.
When Darren was seventeen years old he attended a seminar for
Hong Kong style fight choreography by Kung Fu star Donnie Yen, which
gave him the confidence to pursue his dream of working in Hong Kong
movies as a stepping stone to Hollywood. Then, in the early nineties, a
young Darren moved to Hong Kong where he began his career as a
stuntman until Director Woo-ping Yuen hired him as the lead villain in
the Kung Fu classic Tai Chi Chuan. As a string of martial arts films
followed, Darren used his fighting skills as a stunt performer in studio
blockbusters such as Riddick, Blade 3, 300, Watchmen, and the Night at
the Museum films, as well as supporting roles in Hollywood movies such
as I Spy, playing a boxer fighting Eddie Murphy, The Final Cut with Robin
Williams, and guest star roles in TV shows such as Sanctuary, Human
Target, and Reaper.
In 2010, Darren made a triumphant return to Hong Kong action
films, co-starring opposite his childhood heroes Donnie Yen and Sammo
Hung Kam-Bo in the Wilson Yip directed Ip Man 2. Darren plays the evil
British boxing champion “The Twister” in the semi-biographical story of
Bruce Lee’s real life Kung Fu master, Ip Man. The film opened to huge
critical and commercial acclaim, becoming the most successful Asian
film at the box office in 2010 and widely recognized as the biggest and
best martial arts film of the past decade. Following Ip Man 2’s successful
theatrical run in the United States, Darren renewed following amongst
action film fans with films released in 2011 including Born to Raise Hell
opposite Steven Seagal, Hanger 14 with Steve Austin, as well as starring
roles in Aladdin and the Curse of the Djinn and Mortal Kombat for
Warner Brothers.
About The Filmmakers
Director – Lauro Chartrand moved from Seattle to Northern
Saskatchewan, Canada at the age of six where his mother bought a small
ranch in the wilderness. Lauro spent his time there while growing up,
working on the ranch, riding horses, hunting, and trapping. By age eight
he knew what he wanted to do with his life when his mother took him to
a Chuck Norris movie. During the film Lauro said to his Mother, “That’s
what I want to be when I grow up”. She replied, “What, be an actor and
Martial Arts star like Chuck Norris?” with Lauro replying, “No, I want to
be like the guy he’s fighting with and throwing through windows and
stuff!” leaving his Mother to say “Oh no, you want to be a stunt man!”
From then on Lauro never let go of his dream and has become of the
busiest stunt men in North America. Martial arts have been a part of
Lauro’s life for the past twenty years and continue to be one of his
busiest areas of stunt work. A couple of his favorite and most
memorable martial arts experiences has been working and fighting with
action star Jackie Chan in Rumble in the Bronx and Shanghai Noon, as
