1. Introduction (Arial 10 pt italic and bold )
(Arial 11 pt) – Abstracts should conform to the themes of the Congress and should be two pages in
length. Abstracts should be written in English. Use paper of A4 size (210mm x 297mm) and format
the text according to this template and the given instructions. Do not right justify the text. Do not
hyphenate words at the end of lines. Do not centre any text. Do not underline. Use line spacing of
1.1. Use margins of 20mm on the top and on the bottom as well as on both sides of the document.
An easy way to adopt the required formatting is to overwrite these instructions.
If possible, structure your abstract according to the aims, methods, results and conclusions.
Figures and tables have to be placed close to the relevant text and labelled according to the
examples provided in this document. All illustrations should be centred and numbered
consecutively (i.e., not section-wise). All illustrations should be provided in black and white or grey
scales. Colour cannot be included in the abstract book. Make sure that there are no linked graphic
objects in your document. The best is to use the “paste special” option to paste the figures as
“pictures”.
Figure 1: (Arial 9 pt bold) Provide a complete description of the facts illustrated in the figure. Description should
be placed below the figure. The first line of the text should be left justified. Indent the following lines
by 15 mm.
Accepted abstracts will be printed and published in the proceedings as well as on the conference
web page (http://www.premus2004.ethz.ch/) without further demand for authorisation. Abstracts
will not be published on CD-ROM. Abstracts will be published as submitted. Therefore, you should
avoid errors and misspellings. At least one of the authors of accepted proposals must be registered
to the conference. Presenting authors can subscribe at reduced fee (same as early registration)
until march 31st.
Table 1: (Arial 9 pt bold) Text in all cells except text in the first column should be centred. Text in the first
column (describing the variables) should be left justified. The description of the content of theTable
should be placed above the table. Do left justify the first line and indent the following by 15mm.
