Within the child protection system we are known as a Recognised Entity. 3 As a Recognised Entity we provide an advocacy service to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to ensure that the decisions which are made by Child Safety are in the best interest of Aboriginal and Torres Strait children or young people. We continually work with Child Safety to ensure accessibility, cultural appropriateness and responsiveness across the Child Protection system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people who, are be subject to statutory intervention. We are an intervention service which means we are only involved in a child, young person or family circumstances if they are identified in the child protection system. We also provide families with relevant advice and information about the statutory process.
