Napoleon Bonaparte was the second of eight children. He had
an older brother, Joseph; and younger siblings Lucien, Elisa,
Louis, Pauline, Caroline and Jérôme.
He was born on 15 August 1769. He was christened
Napoleonedi Buonaparte.
Napoleon studied at a military academy. Later he started
studying at the elite École Militaire in Paris. He was the first
Corsican to finish this school.
In February 1821, his health began to fail rapidly. He died on 5
May, 1821.
Napoleon married Joséphine de Beauharnais in 1796. She was
six years older. After their divorce In March 1810, he married
Marie Louise, Archduchess of Austria, and a great niece of
Marie Antoinette.
Napoleon Bonaparte had one child, Napoleon Francis Joseph
Charles (1811–1832), known as the King of Rome. He became
Napoleon II in 1814 and ruled for only two weeks. He died
when he was 21 years old. Napoleon Bonaparte had also
several illegitimate children.
Napoleon was born in the capital city of Corsica in a rich family.
His father was a lawyer.
