>MOW> CLAN: Rotary Wing Training, Instructor Addendum >MOW< Clan Rotary Wing Training Instructor Addendum & Testing Procedures Important: At no point is it acceptable for the student to exit the airframe. 1.1 Rotary Wing Pilot, Basic To qualify for the Basic Rotary Wing Pilot badge the student must complete the following objectives of the Rotary Wing Pilots Training Course: 1.1.1 (Map: Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate proficiency in landings, utilizing the airframe of their choice. Test: Have the student demonstrate steep approach “Touch and Go” (5 seconds ground time) and “Quick Stop” landings on the aircraft carrier in the NW corner of the map. 1.1.2 (Map: Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate proficiency in hovering, including both stationary & circling in the airframe of their choice. Test: Have the student capture the East base (stationary hovering near the flag required, as the objective is surrounded by mountains) as well as the South base (circling). 1.1.3 (Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate proficiency in water rescue in the airframe of their choice. Test: Have the student pick up the instructor in the lake to the west of the Allied base. 1.1.4 (Map: Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate proficiency in aircraft recognition by identifying the silhouettes using flash cards. Test: Two moving targets, allowable ammo expenditure is 1 miss + however many normal hits should be required (i.e. 4 shots AH64 v. Abrams, 5 shots Mi24 v. T72.) 1.1.6 (Map: Twin Rivers) Demonstrate proficiency in Air to Air Gunnery utilizing the AH-6 and SA-342. Test: With an instructor flying evasive and combat maneuvers, have the student attempt to destroy an enemy helicopter of a similar type. 1 >MOW> CLAN: Rotary Wing Training, Instructor Addendum Extra credit awarded for cockpit kills, or kills against fixed-wing assets. Credit applied as 1 minute of time when the student takes the test detailed in 1.2.2 1.2 Rotary Wing Pilot, Advanced To qualify for the Advanced Rotary Wing Pilot badge, the student must have earned his/her Basic badge and complete the following objectives: 1.2.1 (Map: El Alamein) Demonstrate proficiency in spotting targets for artillery. Test: Have the student spot for the instructor in an artillery asset. 1.2.2 (Map: El Alamein) Demonstrate proficiency in both air to air and air to ground combat tactics by completing a predetermined course under combat conditions. Test: Have the student capture the three spawn point objectives. You will need at least one ground adversary per student. Student has six minutes to capture the North and South objectives after capturing East. Student may rearm and repair during the test. OpFor is allowed the use of an unlimited amount of Stingers (no Grails) at East. North and South OpFor are limited to one Stinger per attempt, at which point they must switch to RPGs. 1.2.4 (Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate advanced flight control proficiency by navigating an obstacle course in the AH-6 or MH-500. Test: With the student at the “start” line in the South West corner of the map, have the student fly the DPV race course. While there is no time limit, the student my not land (touching okay, but forward progress should not stop), nor may they raise above hovertaxi flight level. 1.3 Rotary Wing Pilot, Expert To qualify for the Rotary Wing Pilot, Expert (Combat Aviator) badge, the student must have earned his/her Advanced badge, and complete the following aspects of the Expert course within a fixed amount of time and/or under fire: 1.3.1 (Map: DC Lost Village Nopara) Demonstrate proficiency of ingress and egress tactics with a Spec Ops team using the MH-6. Test: Have the student perform four “touch and go” landings at the North base (two East and two West approaches), under small-arms fire from one RPG-equipped enemy. Test: Have the student perform four “touch and go” landings at the South courtyard base (two East and two West approaches), under small-arms fire from one RPG-equipped enemy. 2 >MOW> CLAN: Rotary Wing Training, Instructor Addendum 1.3.2 (Map: DC Lost Village Nopara) Demonstrate proficiency of ingress and egress tactics with a Spec Ops team using the UH-60. Test: Have the student perform four “touch and go” landings at the North base (two East and two West approaches), under small-arms fire from one RPG-equipped enemy. Test: Have the student perform four “touch and go” landings at the South courtyard base (two East and two West approaches), under small-arms fire from one RPG-equipped enemy. Feel free to demonstrate advanced ingress/egress tactics to the Eastern and “Slum” bases, as well as low-level street navigation. 1.3.3 (Map: DC Sea Rigs) Land uppermost derricks using the MH-6 Test: Have the student land at the absolute top of the oil derrick, and then do the same on the opposite side. Two attempts per Derrick allowed in a total time of four minutes. 1.3.4 (Map: DC Sea Rigs) Drop off and then pick up a Spec Ops team on the sea-level base of the rig using the MH-6 Test: Have the student perform a “180* quick stop” infil of a passenger on the east side sea level platform of the oil rig, circle, and perform a “touch and go / quick stop” exfil. Small-arms fire from an RPG, two attempts allowed. 1.3.5 (Map: DC Sea Rigs) Drop off and then pick up a Spec Ops team from the heliport of the rig using the MH-53 Test: Have the student perform a “touch and go” infil on the platform of their choice, circle, and then perform a “touch and go” exfil on the opposite platform. Passenger / instructor will exit, travel to the designated exfil heliport, and wait no more than 60 seconds for pickup. Student pilot may precede passenger to exfil point and wait. Two attempts allowed. 1.3.6 (Map: Urban Siege) Drop off and then pick up a Spec Ops team from the skyscraper using the UH-60, Mi-8, and MH-53. Test: Have the student perform a “touch and go” infil on the skyscraper rooftop, circle (or hold off) while their passenger captures the flag at the base, and then perform an exfil when called over TS or via radio command. Two attempts allowed per airframe, with a maximum wait time of 30 seconds for pilot or passenger at exfil. 1.3.7 (Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate expert fight control proficiency by flying an obstacle course in the AH-64. Test: With the student at the “start” line in the South West corner of the map, have the student hover-taxi the DPV race course. 3 >MOW> CLAN: Rotary Wing Training, Instructor Addendum While there is no time limit, the student my not land (touching okay, but forward progress should not stop), nor may they rise above hovertaxi flight level. 1.4 Rotary Wing Instructor Any instructor candidate will have attained at least the “Expert” badge, and will have demonstrated the ability to teach all the objectives in this manual. Further, the student must complete the following tests: 1.4.1 (Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate fight control mastery by completing a predetermined course of capturing several outposts, one hovering, one circling, and one by landing, utilizing both the MH-53 and Mi-8 within a six minute window for each airframe. Test: Have the student capture the three spawn point objectives. Student has six minutes to complete all objectives. Student may not rearm or repair during the test. 1.4.2 (Map: El Al Tank) Demonstrate fight control mastery by flying an obstacle course in the Mi-24 or Mi-8. Test: With the student at the “start” line in the South West corner of the map, have the student hover-taxi the DPV race course. While there is no time limit, the student my not land (touching okay, but forward progress should not stop), nor may they rise above hovertaxi flight level. 4
