ACT4499 is a business course for future business professionals. As such, all emails should be grammatically correct with proper punctuation and capitalization. Each email should have a salutation and should be “signed” by the student. Texting lingo is NOT acceptable! Emails I receive that do not follow these guidelines will be returned unanswered until corrected. I respond more quickly to emails than to phone calls. PREREQUISITES: To be eligible for an accounting internship, a student must: 1. Be an accounting major 2. Have at least junior standing 3. Have completed ACT3392 4. Have a cumulative overall and major GPA of 3.00. CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Internship in local, regional or national entities. Requires junior or senior standing and advisor approval. See Internship Agreement for additional requirements. Accounting majors must complete this course with a grade of C or better. PURPOSE: To provide students in the School of Accountancy with challenging career opportunities in accounting and meaningful and directed work experience for making career decisions and to develop closer relationships between the School of Accountancy and the professional accounting community. COURSE OBJECTIVES: On completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. Demonstrate knowledge of the challenges of working in a professional environment. 2. Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge already obtained in the classroom to a professional activities and responsibilities. TEXTBOOKS AND OTHER MATERIALS NEEDED: None COURSE REQUIREMENTS: Complete internship requirements as per the employer Complete Internship Agreement Submit paper ASSIGNMENT OF GRADES: All grades will be assigned according to the following scale: A B C D F Postings: FA: 90 – 100% 80 – 89% 70 – 79% 60 – 69% 59% and below final grades will be posted in Trojan WebExpress. “FA” indicates the student failed due to attendance. This grade will be given to any student who disappears from the course for three or more weeks. The last day to drop a course is March 17. After this date, students will not be allowed to drop the course and students will have to take the grade earned in the course. You may drop via Trojan WebExpress or the Records office. A grade will be assigned to you at the end of the course based on your performance.
