Language: Students will be able to: 1. become familiar with words that have multiple. 2. reinforce awareness and knowledge of synonyms. 3. build vocabulary skills. B. Learning strategies: 1. Monitoring comprehension and production – thinking while writing and speaking. 2. Grouping - clarifying. 3. Auditory representation. Special ESL or Bilingual Teaching Strategies: IV. 1. Use L1 and L2 to explain the synonyms are words that have almost the same meaning. 2. Slower rate of speech and frequent repetition in order to make sure that students understand what is being taught. 3. Repeating and rephrasing sentences related to the given sentence pattern. 4. Small group work for learning and participating. Instructional Procedures: V. A. Preparation: 1. Teacher will explain to the students that they will be learning about the synonym. 2. Teacher will define the original vocabulary to the students. 3. Teacher will ask students if they have known any synonyms before. 3. Teacher will write some sentences with synonyms on the blackboard and students will be asked to substitute the synonyms that are highlighted. B. Presentation: 1. Teacher will explain in L1 and L2 that synonyms have more than one meaning. 2. C. Teacher will list several words on the board, then list a synonym for each word listed. 3. Teacher will explain the using synonyms correctly enhance writing and makes writing better. Practice and participation: 1. Students will be directed to pay attention as teacher calls out a word to the class. 2. Students will be asked to come to the blackboard and write what they think to be the synonyms and display their answer to teacher. 3. Students will write neatly on the board and listen to directions carefully during the portion of this lesson. D. Evaluation: 1. Teacher will direct students to pay attention the directions for the next activity. 2. Students will be given a sheet of paper with a word and letter on it. 3. Students will get up out of their seats and find the synonyms that matches the word they were given. 4. Students must match up with the correct person in the class and then stand by the person. E. VI. 5. Students will give a little quiz that teacher can make sure they understand. Closure: 1. The teacher will then go around each pairing and asking them to hold up their sheets. The students will hold up their sheets and call out their words. Then the students will tell the class if their words are synonyms. Materials: 1. White board, erasers, and markers. 2.
