COURSE POLICY
Goals:
The goals of this course are to introduce you to basic circuit elements, circuit laws, and circuit
theorems and to develop circuit analysis methods for solving circuits. Energy storage circuit
elements will be introduced along with their energy properties. AC steady-state sinusoidal circuit
analysis will be introduced. Finally, first and second order circuit solutions will be covered.
Homework and Quizzes:
Homework assignments must be turned in and will count up to 5%. Working problems of the type
assigned for homework is the best way to practice for quizzes and exams. Homework assignments
must be turned in on time as answers will be distributed when the assignments are collected. When
you turn in your homework print your name and section clearly written on top of the first page and
fasten all pages together.
Each week you will have a one-problem quiz on the material just covered. No make-ups will be
given. At least the two lowest quiz grades will be omitted from the final grade calculation.
LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
NO MAKE-UP EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN (without prior notification).

Prerequisite: PHYS 102 or Equivalent; students must pass Physics of E&M before taking ECE201. Also, it should be noted ECE-201 is prerequisite for the Systems courses in the pre-junior
year. These three courses make up an important series of introductory courses in the ECE
curriculum.
Cheating: Any student cheating in a quiz, midterm, or final will receive a zero on that test. In
addition the ECE Department Committee on Cheating will be notified and the student will have to
meet with the chair of the committee for further action.
