Step 1.Warm-up
See a cartoon about Xiao Wanzi
T: Xiao Wanzi was lost. Her grandpa was worried. Can you help grandpa write a Lost to find Xiao
Wanzi
Ss: Yes.
T: How to write a Lost?
Ss: …
T: We should describe Xiao Wanzi’s hair first.
Step 2. Key vocabulary
T: What color is Xiao Wanzi’s hair?
Ss: black
T: So Xiao Wanzi has black hair.
T: Does Xiao Wanzi have long hair?
Ss: no
T: So Xiao Wanzi has long hair. What does Xiao Wanzi look like?
Ss: She has black hair and short hair.
T: Yes, she has short black hair.
Compare Xiao Wanzi’s hair with other hair styles(long straight black hair, long curly blonde hair )
Focus attention on the words. Ask students to read the list of words. Then say each word and ask
students to repeat it.
Play a game. Have a try. Let one student choose a number, behind each number, there is a picture,
then other students ask the question “ what does he/she look like?” that student answer the
question “ He/she has…hair.” After the game, student can describe Xiao Wanzi’s hair.
T: What does Xiao Wanzi look like?
Ss: She has short straight black hair.
T: Yes, you are great. Now let’s fill in our lost.
Students finish the first line.
T: Now we know Xiao Wanzi’s hair. How about her height and build? Let’s learn more.
Show a tall man with a hat and a short man with a hat.
T: We can’t see their hair. What do they look like?
Ss: He is short and he is tall.
T: You are so clever.
Show another picture of a short man.
T: What does he look like?
Ss: He is short.
Show another picture of a tall man.
T: What does he look like?
Ss: He is tall.
Show another picture of a medium height man.
T: What does he look like?
Ss: …
T: He is of medium height.
Students repeat the phrase “of medium height”.
Show another picture of a thin man and a heavy man.
T: They’re in the same height. What do they look like?
Ss: Thin and…
T: Heavy. He is heavy.
Students repeat the word “heavy”.
Show another picture of a medium build man.
T: What does he look like?
Ss: He is…
T: He is of medium build.
Students repeat the phrase “of medium build”.
Then do a pairwork. Show a picture of three men with no head.
“What does he look like?”
“He is…”
Then do another pairwork. Show a picture of Shen.Dianxia’s family.
“What does he/she look like?”
“He/she is…”
“He/she has…”
Give students some phrases
After the pairwork, student can describe Xiao Wanzi’s height and build.
T: What does Xiao Wanzi look like?
Ss: She has short straight black hair. She is short and thin.
T: Yes, you are great. Now let’s fill in our lost.
Students finish the second line.
T: Now we know Xiao Wanzi’s height and build. How about her clothes? Let’s go on.
Show a picture of Nancy in page42 part3
T: What does she look like?
Ss: She has long straight black hair. She is short and thin.
T: Good job. And it’s a dress. A red dress. So we can say “She wears a red dress.”
Students repeat the sentence “She wears a red dress.”.
Then ask students to finish part3 in page42. Check the answer. Read it together.
After that, student can describe Xiao Wanzi’s clothes.
T: What does Xiao Wanzi look like?
Ss: She has short straight black hair. She is short and thin. She wears a yellow T-shirt and a red
skirt.
T: Great. Now let’s fill in our lost.
Students finish the third line.
T: Now we have finished our lost. Let’s do more exercise to check ourselves. Open your books,
turn to page41. Finish 1a.
Check the answer.
Step 3. Listening (1b)
Say, You will hear a conversation between Amy and her friend. Fill in the blank likes in their
conversation. Then look at the picture and find the boy Amy is talking about.
Play the recording, students fill in the blanks in the speech bubbles.
Say, who are they talking about?
Check the answers.
Step 4. Listening (2a,2b)
T: Page42 2a, circle the answer by yourselves.
T: Listen to the tape, check your answer in 2a and fill in the blanks in 2b.
Check the answer.
T: Ok! We have helped grandpa finish the lost. So grandpa found Xiao Wanzi. They are happy. But
they are also worried. Because they can’t describe themselves. If someone is lost, they can’t write
a lost. So can you describe the whole family? For example, Xiao Wanzi has short straight black
hair. She is short and thin. She wears a yellow T-shirt and a red skirt.

Ask the students to describe someone in our class. Finish workbook period 1.
教学反思:1.在核对 SectionA 2a 时,可让学生把整个句子朗读一遍。
2.“Have a try”活动中已选过的号码可设置为静止,便于学生分辨,避免重复选择。
3.在教学词汇时,图片中的人物最好能表明姓名,利于学生描述。
4.在最后应结合学生自己或教师来描述,这样更能学以致用。
5.前面词汇朗读占用了过多的时间,最后的结尾部分巩固强化不够。
