THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF DOOR COUNTY DC LWV MEMBERSHIP UPDATE – OCTOBER 28, 2010 S Senarighi, President, LWV DC rsenarighi@charter.net 920-743-1691 Mark your calendars for the upcoming important LWV DC events! “GET OUT THE VOTE” Don’t forget to put out your LWV “Get out the Vote” signs to support participation in the November 2nd election. However, you might bring them in over Saturday and Sunday to protect them from possible Halloween activities! It is okay to put these signs in non-member yards as long as the home/business agrees NOT to post any signs supporting a candidate or party in addition to the LWV sign. We especially appreciate having them displayed in yards highly visible to allot of traffic. Please put signs away after the polls close to preserve them for future use! ROUNDTABLE FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12TH, 11:30 AM AT INN AT CEDAR CROSSING Door County Assistant District Attorney Joan Korb will join the League of Women Voters of Door County at our Roundtable on Open Meetings / Open Records Laws on November 12th at 11:30 AM at the Inn at Cedar Crossing in Sturgeon Bay. The League has been studying the provisions of this law, and Ms. Korb will answer questions and try to help us apply these provisions to the operations of state and local government. Please consider bringing a guest, but because of seating issues, we ask that all attendees RSVP to Susan Kohout at 743-1527 or rrkohout@gmail.com. Please consider sending your questions in ahead of time as well for forwarding to Ms. Korb. Thanks to the planning committee – Susie Kohout, Karen deYoung, Jim Ebbeson, Barb Graul, Victoria Cerinich, Peter Wyatt, and Eileen Bohn. Thanks to the redistricting committee – Susie Kohout, Eileen Bohn, Jim Ebbeson, Pat Miller, Dawn Kuelz, & Shirley Senarighi. DVDs of the forums are available at the library and the program can be seen on the website doorbell.net. CANDIDATE FORUMS SUCCESSFUL Two well-attended candidate forums were held this fall – Door County Sheriff and District 1 Assembly Representative. We received a great deal of positive feedback regarding them! Thanks to the fall candidate forum committee – Susie Kohout, Barb Graul, Dawn Kuelz, and Peter Wyatt and the many League members who helped out at the forums! LEAGUE IN THE NEWS Is there someone or a group who would be willing to organize the many clippings we have of our League in the news? We have a “pile” of articles, press releases, and letters to the editor that have appeared in the Peninsula Pulse and/or Door County Advocate in recent years; they need to be sorted into chronological order and the duplications eliminated. If someone enjoys scrapbooking, they could be archived in that fashion. Let Shirley (743-1691) know if you are interested in this “at-home” project!
