TEACHING EXPERIENCE:
Student Teaching (Grade 4, Fall 2013)
 Mason Intermediate, Mason, Ohio
o 8 weeks spent in a language arts classroom, teaching units on reading strategies, character
and personal essays. While being supervised, I was in charge of grading assignments,
spelling, creating lesson plans and managing the classroom. I utilized technology such as a
smartboard, ipads and learning websites. Reader’s and writer’s workshop was utilized,
following Lucy Calkins’ structure.
o 8 weeks spent in a mathematics classroom, teaching units on multiplication and division
word problems and solving multiplication problems without the algorithm. I used centers
and stations to teach, as well as implemented technology within the classroom and
integrated language arts. Again, while supervised, I had full control of the classroom.
Field Experience Grades 4-9, Spring 2012-Spring 2013
 Talawanda Middle School, Talawanda, Spring 2013
o Over the course of ten weeks, I worked one on one with a sixth grade girl who needed
help with reading and phonics. My goal was to teach her new strategies and help her with
comprehension. A qualitative reading inventory was implemented.
 Highview 6th Grade Center, Middletown District, Ohio, Fall 2012
o 6 weeks spent in an urban mathematics classroom, teaching a modeling numbers unit.
Utilized an eno board to teach. Worked one on one with students who needed extra help. 6
weeks spent in an urban language arts classroom. Created a one-week unit on persuasion.
Utilized eno board and created lesson plans over the course of the 6 weeks.

