THE CELL CYCLE
Below is tissue taken from a plant cell (onion). Determine which phase of the cell cycle
each cell is in.
Label each of the above as (I) INTERPHASE (P) PROPHASE, (M) METAPHASE,
(A) ANAPHASE, (T) TELOPHASE/CYTOKINESIS

Meiosis
Phases of Meiosis. Name each phase of meiosis below
Name of Phase
Description
1.
The cell makes a copy of itself (chromosomes, organelles etc)
2.
CROSSING OVER OCCURS, Homologous chromosomes pair up and
form tetrad
3.
Homologous pairs line up in the middle of the cell
4.
Spindle fibers separate homologous pairs, chromosomes move to
opposite sides
5.
nuclear envelope reforms, spindles break down
6.
Cytoplasm divides, 2 daughter cells are formed
7.
Skips DNA replication, chromosomes condense again, nuclear envelope
breaks down (if it reformed)
8.
Chromosomes line up along equator, not in homologous pairs
9.
Sister Chromatids separate
10.
Sister chromatid gather at opposite poles, nuclear envelope begins to
reform, spindle breaks down
11.
Nuclear membrane reforms, cytoplasm divides, 4 daughter cells formed
