5 Major World Religions Technology Project
You are going to be completing a research project on the 5 major religions of the world.
This project has two parts and two grades. You will be creating a database, and
PowerPoint or digital essay that will show your researched knowledge of these different
religions. You will compare and contrast, analyze, list similarities and differences within
them, and list facts about each of them You will also create a bibliography siteing every
source and picture from where your information was collected. The information can be
found in the Almanac, Atlases, Encyclopedia, and books. All of this project will be
completed at school. Each part of the projects instructions will be given to you
separately, as to not confuse you.
You MUST hold onto all of your information and keep it organized to help you for the
entire project. Do not throw anything away!
Part I. Research:
You must locate all of your information, prior to doing
anything. We will be doing all of our research from books. Try to collect all of your
information from the most current dated reference books in the library first. Since you
will be referring to your collected information continuously, you must stay organized.
Directions:
1. Start with a fresh notebook page for each religion. Label each page with your
name and one of the major world religions. Christianity, Judaism, Islam,
Buddhism, Hindu.
2. You must locate and collect the following information for each of the religions:
 Founder (who started it)
 Date founded (started)
 Holy cities
 Name of God
 Name of Holy book or books
 Language most associated with the religion
 Is the religion Monotheistic, polytheistic or atheist
 Name of followers and how many followers are there in total:
 Major Beliefs
 Famous people from history.
 Symbol of the religion
 Which country has the largest population of followers
You must include a bibliography in your power point. Please follow the directions on the
next page.

Part II: PowerPoint
Note:
You must have the following slides in your presentation
1. 1st Slide: Title Slide : Name of your project and date/ your name
2. Last slide of Project: Bibliography (Reference slide), site your
sources, using the MLA format on page 3
For each religion, you must have slides explaining the following
Separate Title Slide for each religion, listing the name of religion, overlaid on a
picture from that religion. (This is 5 slides) On these slides also include: Who
founded the religion and when (approximate date). A symbol of the religion.
Where did the religion originate? What is the world’s current population of each
religion and country with the highest population
Name(s) or Gods and/or who do they worship, Is this religion: monotheistic,
polytheistic or atheist. Name of their holy book, Name of the Holy city.
What is their major belief?
Famous people from history that are from this religion (at least 2). Please try to
identify people of peace, or that represent their religion in a positive worldly
view.
Save your information frequently on the computer
*Minimum of 25 Slides, not including the title and bibliography slide*
Part III:
Database
We will be using Microsoft Works to create the database.
You will eventually be creating a database on the computer for your
technology folder and posting the following information. You must
save the completed database in your technology folder after you have
finished. Include your name and date as well as a title on the top of
the paper. The following must be included: Start by going to
Microsoft Works and opening a database.








