Salary: $16/hour for 2015-2016 school year

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the YBike Program Coordinator, this position is responsible for maintaining and operating in-school YBike bicycle P.E. programs for middle- and high-school youth at multiple off-site public school sites. This position may also work one-day bike rodeos at elementary schools sites as well as other community- and city-wide events and outreach efforts, such as Bike to School Day; assist with Safe Routes to School pedestrian and bicycle safety education programs; assist with after-school bicycle safety education programs; lead monthly family and youth bicycling-related classes at the Presidio Community YMCA; or assisting with other related YBike programs at the Presidio Community YMCA. All programs should be administered in a manner consistent with YMCA goals and policies.

This position is 25 hours per week. Hours may vary slightly in accordance with the SFUSD calendar, program needs, and weekend excursions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 Minimum of 18 years of age required.

 High school graduation or equivalent required.

 Must be flexible to a schedule that may include some nights, early mornings, and weekends.

 Ability to ride a bike.

 Some bike mechanics experience is preferred but not necessary.

 Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 League of American Bicyclists’ League Cycling Instructor (LCI) certification (training provided if necessary).

 YMCA approved CPR, First Aid/AED certifications *

* within 30 days of hire date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

 You must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

 All employees working with the YMCA are considered to have a supervisory or

 disciplinary action relationship over minors. All employees in SFUSD sites/contracted sites must be fingerprinted through DOJ and FBI AND be cleared before they can start work at the site.

Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. in order to perform the essential functions of the job.

 Physical ability to lead and participate in active sports and games with children, monitor behavior requiring physical separation and participate in curriculum activities.

 TB test results must be provided upon commencement of employment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.

Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Uphold YMCA policies for safety, supervision, mandated reporting and risk management.

Respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation.

Assess and maintain program equipment, including bicycles, and assist with storage, distribution and transport of bikes to sites for riding clubs and events.

Respond to questions and concerns promptly.

10.

Contribute to program evaluation by keeping data about participation, representation and growth.

12.

Submit all required documentation on a timely basis, including attendance, enrollment and permission forms, timecards, and incident/accident reports.

Meet individually-established goals as agreed upon by staff member and YBike

Coordinator.

14.

Complete administrative and other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
