Name ________________________________________________________________________________ All Systems Go! Project Your task is to create a 3-D model of one of the body systems you have been learning about in Science: circulatory, respiratory, digestive, or urinary. The purpose of the project is for you to become an expert about one of the systems in your body that helps keep you alive. The model must be created by you, not purchased from a store. All parts of each system must be labeled. Along with the label, you must explain the function of each part. Also, you will present your project to the class. You will be graded using a rubric for the project and a rubric for the presentation, which will be given to you along with this hand-out. Please keep the rubrics and turn them in when you turn in your project. This project is to be done at home. No class time will be given to work on the project. The project is due Monday, November 4. You may use your textbook or other sources, such as the Internet. Just make sure you write the information in your own words. Checklist: _____ 3-D Model of the body system _____ Each part labeled; function of each part explained on label _____ Explain in writing the job the system does for your body _____ Information is in my own words, not copied from the sources I used Name ________________________________________________________________________________ All Systems Go! Project 3D Model of a Body System Category 4 3 2 1 Construction materials Appropriate materials were selected and creatively modified in ways that made them even better. Appropriate materials Appropriate were selected and materials were there was an attempt at selected. creative modification to make them even better. Very few materials were used and the choice of materials did not make sense. Construction Care Taken Great care taken in construction process so that the structure is neat, attractive and follows plans accurately. Construction was careful and accurate for the most part, but 12 details could have been refined for a more attractive product. Construction accurately followed the plans, but 3-4 details could have been refined for a more attractive product. Construction appears careless or haphazard. Many details need refinement for a strong or attractive product. Structure Model contains all of the parts of the body system, clearly and neatly labeled with the function of each part completely defined. Model contains all of the parts of the body system, labeled with the function of each part completely defined. Model contains all but one of the parts of the body system, labeled with the function of each part defined. Model is missing more than one of the parts of the body system and/or the function of each part is not defined. Size The size of the model allows it to be clearly seen from any area of the classroom. The size of the model allows it to be clearly seen from most areas of the classroom The size of the model is small and so can only be seen from half the area of the classroom. The size of the model is so small that it can only be seen from those in the front of the room.
