TEIFER Co-Curricular Supervisor JAMES S. MILLS District Director of Guidance July 20, 2011 Dear Parent or Guardian, This letter is being sent to you because your son or daughter signed up to take one of the Burlington County College courses that will be taught at BTHS during the 2011-12 school year. Introduction to Criminal Justice will be taught during the 1st semester and Introduction to Psychology will be taught in the 2nd semester. College professors assigned by Burlington County College will teach these courses. Both courses will be taught on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during period 1. Students will have the option of coming in to school at the end of period 1 on the days the class is not taught (Tuesday and Thursday) if they have their own transportation, or they may come to school at the regular time and we will assign them a room where they can access a computer to do work for their college course. The tuition rate for each course as set by BCC will be $361.50. Students are also responsible for the cost of the book. The BCC course registration form is enclosed in this mailing for those students who have signed up for the 1st semester criminal justice course. A separate mailing with specific details about the Psychology course will be mailed in the fall. Students taking the Intro to Criminal Justice course should complete the enclosed BCC application. In the section titled, “College Courses in Which You Plan to Enroll”, students just need to complete 4 sections: put “CRJ” under Dept., “101” under Course No,” Criminal Justice 101” under the Course Title, and “3” under Credit. The book for the Criminal Justice course is Criminal Justice 9th edition- author’s last name is Incardi. The book can be purchased at the college bookstores on either the BCC Pemberton or Mt. Laurel campuses. The price ranges from new ($171.50) to used ($129) to rent ($85.79). You also may be able to find a better price online from an online bookseller. The completed BCC application along with a check made out to BCC for $361.50 is due to the Counseling Office by Friday, September 2nd. The 1st session for the Intro to Criminal Justice class will be on Wednesday, September 7th. Students taking the Criminal Justice class should plan on coming to school at the regular time (7:20) on Tuesday, September 6th so they can receive their final schedule, locker number and other information that will be distributed in Graderooms that day. If for some reason your son or daughter has decided not to take Intro to Criminal Justice or Psychology, they should contact the Counseling Office at 387-1713 extension 5 immediately so that they can be scheduled into another class. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at the number listed above. Enjoy the remainder of your summer. Sincerely yours, James S.
