GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Before completing this entry form, please read the following guidelines:

1. ENTRY FORM

Use the template provided by Frost & Sullivan or go to the website to download the entry form www.nzte.govt.nz/awards Email your completed entry to nziba@frost.com

Entries close 5pm Friday 17 May, 2013.

Answers to general and special category questions should not exceed the stated word limit for each question.

Note: If your answer exceeds the maximum word count, the excess may not be evaluated.

2. TELL YOUR STORY

All the questions in the application are crafted to allow you to tell the whole story of your company, with the central theme being success in internationalising. This is an opportunity to describe your business to the judges: what you produce or provide, what makes you stand out from your competitors, as well as some of your international successes and milestones.

A common error is to go into too much detail about a product or service, burying the application in jargon and acronyms.

Keep it simple and clear. Use plain English, watch out for overuse of capitalisation, italics, bold text.

The judges are looking for smart strategies, strong company infrastructure and proven innovation. Do not assume that the judges or the assessment team has any prior knowledge of your business over and above the information included in your 2013 stage one entry.

3. RESULTS

The Results section (five) is worth 40% of the evaluation score so warrants extra attention and effort. Results reported should show how you are able to prove your success in your chosen markets and in the provision of products and/or services. Present the information effectively. Use the most effective tools to present the information clearly and simply.

Graphs, charts, tables or other tools may do this better than words.

Examples:

 Process flow charts or matrices are often useful for answering ‘how’ questions succinctly.

 Lists, matrices or tables can be used for answering ‘what’ questions.

The focus of these awards is international business success so please always separate out domestic versus international when presenting results or other relevant data.

 Graphs and tables are often useful for illustrating results. They should be clearly labeled for easy interpretation.

Be aware you may need to provide some discussion of results, to make sure the evaluators understand and interpret them correctly. Graphs and tables do not count in the word limit but they must be included in the application form itself and not sent as separate attachments.

4. USE YOUR SPACE ALLOWANCE CAREFULLY

Keep in mind the overall score given to each of the sections as you answer and give higher scoring sections more attention.

5. DEFINE YOUR TERMS AND ABBREVIATIONS

Please provide a glossary of terms and abbreviations, in table format and in alphabetical order, if you believe this is required to assist understanding.
