Declaration of Understanding
In receiving research supervision at the Graduate School of Information Science and
Engineering, Ritsumeikan University (hereinafter refereed to as “RU”), I hereby declare
that I understand and will comply with the following in carrying out my research with
integrity.
1.
I will follow the instructions of my supervisor at RU, and comply with all rules and
regulations of RU.
2.
I understand that if I engage in actions/behaviors that violate any of the rules and
regulations during my period of study abroad, I will lose my status as “Research
Student” at RU, and my research supervision will be terminated.
3. I agree that any intellectual property rights that arise through research supervision
provided by RU shall reside with RU.
4.
Of the knowledge, experience, materials and information obtained through my
research activities, I will strictly keep secret those that are considered confidential
administrative or research information of RU. However, this does not include
anything that was already publicly available or that which can be proven to have
been in my possession; that which becomes publicly available in the future through
no breach of my own; or that which has been disclosed to me without obligation of
confidentiality by a third party who is lawfully entitled to make such disclosure.
5.
I will not hold responsible the Sending Institution or RU for any damages received
by me during the period of study abroad at RU and will not make liability claims to
either party, unless the Sending Institution and/or RU is/are liable on grounds of
willful intent or gross negligence.
6.
I will be held liable for any damages caused by me through willful intent or
negligence to RU or a third party during my period of study abroad, regardless of the
content of memorandums, agreements or contracts concluded with RU or the
Sending Institution.
7.
I will purchase coverage in an overseas travelers’ insurance for disasters, accidents,
liability protection, etc. prior to acceptance at RU, through which I will receive
compensation or satisfy liability claims for damages mentioned in 5. and 6. above.
