Akihiro Tanii is Manager, International Relations Group, Corporate Division for Government & Public Affairs of Panasonic Corporation. Since 1983, Mr. Tanii has worked in various departments within the company, including the Corporate Overseas Management Division and the Corporate Publicity Division. During his tenure with Panasonic, Mr. Tanii earned his Master of International Studies at Sophia University in Tokyo. Mr. Tanii was Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University from 2003 to 2004. John E. Matheson Mr. Matheson is Intel’s Director of Legal Policy-Asia Pacific and is based in Singapore where he is senior manager with Intel Technology Asia Pte Ltd. His current role includes responsibility for Intel’s legal policy and law reform issues in Asia. Prior to this posting he was Group General Counsel for Intel with responsibility for managing Intel’s regional legal team and legal operations across Asia Pacific. He is an intellectual property lawyer by training and holds LL.B and M.Sc.(Hons) degrees from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Prior to joining Intel in Hong Kong in 1997 he was a partner in Deacons, a Hong Kong-based law firm, serving in their Hong Kong and Tokyo offices. Mr. Matheson is admitted to practice in Hong Kong, England, Australia & New Zealand and formally, as a licensed foreign attorney in Japan. He has worked and lived in Asia for more than 20 years where his principal focus areas have been IP and innovation together with ethics and compliance. He was the recipient of Intel’s inaugural worldwide Excellence Award for significant impact, proactive thinking and leadership in ethics. He has extensive experience in IP strategy, law reform and anti-counterfeiting and since 2004 has served as a Vice Chair of the Quality Brands Protection Committee which represents 200 MNCs with IP interests in China. Sam Shen Senior Industry Consultant and Director IT & Electronics Industry Research Center Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC), Institute for Information Industry (III), Chinese Taipei. Mr. Shen is responsible for managing MIC's business development and consulting services. He also acts as Senior Industry Consultant, providing consultation to both governmental agencies and private enterprises. Mr. Shen has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry. He first came to MIC in 1991, researching software and information service industries. During his twelve years with MIC and other divisions of III, Mr. Shen lead several major projects helping Chinese Taipei government formulate and implement its IT industry development policy for the domestic software industry as well as the PC industry supply chain incentive program. In 2000, he went on to start his own venture capital business, successfully raising two funds focusing on software and IC design related industries in Chinese Taipei and Silicon Valley, USA with a total of USD$28 million under management. Mr. Shen rejoined MIC as Deputy General Director in 2004. Mr. Shen holds a Master of Public Affairs (MPA) degree with concentration in Public Information System Management from Indiana University, USA. Mohd Saleh Shaifubahrim Mohd Saleh has more than 27 years of hands-on strategic and operational management experience working for 5 multinational companies in Malaysia and the region, as well as providing consulting to Government and Private Enterprises. He is certified in Change Management by Pritchett Rummler-Brache to consult in Corporate Growth, Culture Change and Performance Improvement. His industry experience covers Information Technology, Telecommunications, Insurance, Government, Defense and Public Utilities. He facilitates executive seminars on leadership and strategy locally and abroad. He has been extensively involved in the ICT industry in Malaysia, Middle East and across the Asian region from managing ICT companies to advising national bodies in ICT policies and implementation. He was a Board member of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) Malaysia (1999-2004), Chapter member of Talents-Ideas-Enterprise (TiE) Council, and was Board member of 3 public listed companies namely Edaran Berhad, eBCapital Berhad and Redtone International Bhd. Currently, Shaifu is the President of PIKOM, The National ICT Association of Malaysia, and recently elected as President of the Malaysian Service Providers Confederation (MSPC). Aged 52, Shaifu holds a Bachelors of Science (Hons) Degree in Computer and Management from the Universiti Sains Malaysia. Married with 3 lovely kids, he resides in Petaling Jaya.
